Hi,
I'm Mel, a remote social media director, and I'm looking to sublet two rooms in my lovely Bushwick apartment, each for $1,100 per month, which includes utilities. November's rent will be prorated!
Room 1: My Primary Room (Available November 10th - January 15th)
Fully furnished and available temporarily, ideally for someone seeking a short stay or a place for storage while I go home to Maryland to care for my mother post-surgery.
You'll have your bathroom, TV, bed (with a new mattress topper), and a desk. This room is perfect for someone new to NYC or an out-of-town worker needing a cozy place to rest.
Room 2: Room Near the Primary Room (Available November 15, 2024)
This room is not furnished and is available for a longer 6-12 month lease. You'll share a bathroom with our friendly front tenant, Rita, who works at Trader Joe's.
It has one window that brings in lots of light and is the largest closet in the apartment. Previously my room, it’s cozy and ideal for a quieter, introverted person who appreciates having housemates nearby.
About the Building:
Our building has just three units, and we're the only ones on the second floor, making it a peaceful space. We all know each other and share a friendly atmosphere. I usually work from home, so I keep noise to a minimum, but guests are welcome (just in moderation to maintain a calm vibe).
-I'm an early riser (6 AM sometimes) due to my work in social media, but I enjoy music and movies on weekends if I’m around. The apartment is great for introverts who appreciate having guaranteed private space yet like knowing someone is close by.
-While I haven’t been cooking much lately, I love when others do. It's important to clean up after cooking for a peaceful living environment. We don’t have formal chores but strive to keep the kitchen tidy and take turns with trash removal.
-This is a NO-shoe apartment and a Covid-preventative environment. We take cleanliness seriously, so we require no shoes in the apartment and appreciate housemates who respect that.
We also have a shared backyard with a closed gate for your enjoyment!
Room Features:
-Back Room: One window, deep closet space
-Primary Room: Two windows, average closet space
-4/20 friendly in the backyard or from your window (no cigarettes)
-No pets or couples allowed
-Hardwood floors throughout
About the Area:
There are plenty of bodegas nearby, and I'm within walking distance of Santa Maria Park. I roam around, even as a newcomer. Some local favorites include:
Tulum: Ask for Ray or Valentia for the best drinks!
La Lupe: My go-to for street tacos; tell Cynthia and her sister Melanie sent you!
Ornithology Jazz Bar: Best date spot
2Chix Brunch: Black-owned brunch spot
Santa Panza: Best dirty martini
Leaf: Best Caesar salad
Lil Mo’s: Best pho
We’re just five blocks from the J/M/Z train, between Myrtle-Broadway and Kosciuszko stops.
Miscellaneous:
Our landlord is attentive and doesn’t live in the building. We have a nice-sized living room with a couch, and while the kitchen is set, new roommates can bring their pots, pans, air fryers, etc. A cleaning person comes monthly to maintain the lobby area.
I’m eager to meet you and secure two new tenants quickly. I'm available for FaceTime chats if you’re moving from out of town (Rita and I did that, and it was a great match!).
Thank you,
Melanie
I'm from Maryland and moved here in 2010 for an internship, and haven't left yet. I love this apartment and the area and really love NYC. I work doing social media management and also run my own beauty blog (so if you're into makeup, I'm your girl). I love nature and brown dogs.
