Hi there - I’m Alex and I love my apartment - hope you will too! I’ll be away January 1 - March 31, 2025 and looking to sublet my place. I’ve had a number of subletters through the Listing Project in the past and they have all been great - love this community.
The apartment is a renovated one bedroom/one bathroom in an elevator building with laundry on every floor and an outdoor space. The address used to house a number of event spaces (most notably, the Electric Circus in the late 60s) before being converted to apartments. The historic / bustling St Marks Place awaits at your doorstep!
A bit about the ideal candidate:
- clean & respectful of the space (I take great care of my apartment - and hope you will as well!)
- respectful of the neighbors (the two neighbors to either side of me are very quiet and I gladly reciprocate) - please no parties!
- can water my plants (the orchid needs two sink baths every week, and the rest are easier!)
A bit more about the apartment itself:
- A/C and heat you can control!
- huge windows facing south in both livingroom and bedroom - lots of sun (blackout screens for when you want to sleep in!)
- the apartment comes furnished. I have an eclectic interior design style which I hope you’ll enjoy
- hardwood floors throughout except bathroom (tile) and kitchen (corrugated steel - how cool is that?)
- lots of art throughout (even in one of the closets!)
- no TV, sorry
- kitchen: gas oven/stove, microwave, dishwasher, large counter space, plenty of cabinets
- dining/living room: dining table with four chairs (which I also use as a desk when working from home), vitrine with books/tchotchkes, a couple of lamps, coffee table, articulating couch, a little rug
- bedroom: queen size bed, linen sheets if you want to use mine (or feel free to bring your own)
- bathroom: bathtub, mirror shelf (can clear some of it out for you)
- closets: there is a small walk-in in the living room and a primary closet in the bedroom. I’ll clear out the bedroom closet for you
A bit about the neighborhood: the East Village is an energetic, funky neighborhood. St Marks is close to Astor place, a number of parks (Union sq, Washington sq, Tompkins sq), is super close to 4, 5, 6, as well as N, Q, R trains (1, 2, 3 and the L are also close by at Union sq). Can’t get any more central south of 14th street! The street itself can be loud but the apartment is pretty quiet. I’m a light sleeper but manage just fine.
Let me know if any questions!
Im Alex (he/him/his) - a neatfreak / workaholic / queer guy. Love art & interior design - and I hope my space reflects that!
I’m a tenant in the space.
