I am looking for long-term apartment space in Brooklyn (Bushwick on the L train, ideally) for Feb. 1, and would like to find one roommate with a similar budget ($2200 for my half) to join me in my search!

I am 30 years old, work in public policy/government, and have been living in NYC for just under a year. I have been living in temporary sublets and am excited to find a more permanent living situation in Brooklyn. My ideal roommate is someone with shared interests, values, and living styles who will help maintain a clean, friendly, chill living environment. While I could live alone, having a roommate is a plus for me and I enjoy the company and community it affords as well as the opportunity for a larger space.

My ideal space:
I am looking for a true 2-bedroom apartment to turn into a nice + cozy home! I'm primarily looking at apartments in houses or small buildings (a duplex would be amazinggg) that have been renovated but retain original character and accents/fixtures. I’d also like something with dedicated living room space as well as outdoor yard/patio space for when the weather gets nice.

I am open to joining an existing apartment with 1 or 2 other roommates, or applying to an empty place with someone else. Either way, bedroom must be unfurnished and I have some common area furniture I can contribute to the space. I have toured a few apartments in Bushwick that meet most of my criteria and will continue looking throughout the month. I am prepared to apply for apartments ASAP upon finding the right place and roommate (you would also need to apply/meet any application requirements).

Ideal neighborhood:
I’m mostly looking at apartments in Bushwick but am open to expanding my search to other spots along the L or G trains in Brooklyn. I’d prefer to be within a 5 min walk to the train. I currently live near Maria Hernandez Park/Jefferson Street and absolutely love this neighborhood - from the people and community to its accessibility, art + culture, food, and nightlife.

About This Lister

My name is Ellie (she/her). I am originally from CT and have lived in DC, Boston, and most recently moved to NYC last winter. I am queer, and would prefer to live with other queer (or queer-adjacent) folks if possible!

I work in public policy/government and my current job is remote, but I am starting a new job in the next few months with the NYC Dept of Health and will be on a hybrid 9-5 schedule (3 days in office, 2 days home). In my free time I enjoy travel, live theater, nightlife/dancing, strength training/yoga, good food, decorating, and social activist causes. Health care justice is a passion of mine. I of course also like to rot on the couch and watch reality TV, documentaries, movies etc.

I prefer a communal living vibe with mutual respect, consideration, and thoughtfulness. I enjoy being social in the home with my roommate(s), whether it’s couch hangouts, yap sessions, life talks, tv watching, etc. I prefer to live with someone who wants similar. That said, I also want a place with enough space to move around/not be on each other’s toes so we can live comfortably. I don’t have pets but I love dogs and will occasionally dog sit for friends. I’m 420 friendly.

If you think we would be a good fit, please reach out and share about yourself (basic info, your situation, interests and hobbies, budget, timeline) and we can go from there! Thanks for reading!
