Got a new monologue you've struggling with? Want to brush up old pieces from your back pocket? Scared of Shakespeare? Not sure if you're truly acting your 32-bar cut?
I am here to help.
We will workshop your pieces to help you foster a deeper connection to your text. There is a reason why you speak or sing, and together we will enrich that understanding.
Sessions are 1-hour in length. If you want to do remotely, rate is $50/session. In person (at either my studio apartment or I can come to you) is $75/session.
Ideally we will work every other week on your materials, but I try to keep things flexible.
My name is Joseph Pyfferoen. I am a musical theatre actor who has been in the industry since I was a child.
Originally from Rochester, MN, I have been in NYC since 2015.
As a performer myself, I know how challenging auditions can be. I had a professor once say, "Audition's are the universe's way of getting back at actors for John Wilkes Booth."
However, when I know my materials and my personal connection to it, I find I have less stress and (gasp) even enjoyment.
I love seeing that "ah-ha" moment when someone I am working with either makes a new discovery or realizes something they have never thought about before. I like to challenge my actors to push themselves beyond what they know.
I know that this can be a very frustrating business, but I believe that if you can feel proud of your audition materials then booking the job is just the icing on the cake.
I am a graduate from University of Minnesota with a BA in Acting and a Minor in Communication Studies. I recently completed the two-year conservatory at Circle in the Square Theatre School.
I am just beginning this small side business, and look forward to growing along side my clients.
Some of the people I have to give thanks to are Billy Bustamante, Benita de Wit, Sarah Louise Lazarus, Mark Nelson, Mark Barford, TJ Mannix, and the entire faculty and staff at Circle. I also have to acknowledge Lisa Channer, Luverne Seifert, Jerry Casper, Dominic Taylor, and all the amazing directors and teachers I have worked with in Minnesota.
