I'm looking for someone to rent a room in my spacious, light-filled 2BR apartment in Astoria. Could that someone be you?

The Room

Your room is west-facing and roughly 7.5’ x 11.5’. It has a closet, a window, and two storage spaces over the bed. It can easily fit a full-sized bed and some furniture, as seen by the photos. The room is carpeted, but there is a vacuum cleaner.

The room is furnished with a full-sized bed with plenty of storage (seen in the photos) as well as a shelf that fits in the closet. This can be removed upon request.

The Apartment

The apartment is on the second floor. Your room is off of the kitchen, which has plenty of cabinet and storage space. The living room is off of that, and it is furnished, though I am open to ideas regarding the furnishings. The bathroom is down a short hallway and is quaintly decorated with pink tile (which I personally love). We would be sharing the bathroom. There are a couple of small closets and a few more storage spaces located throughout the apartment, including in (yes, in) the living room couch!

The landlord does not live on the property but is very responsive if something needs to be repaired. The lease is month-to-month. Utilities (electric, gas, internet) are not included and vary between $100-$175 per person depending on the time of year (often more in the winter).

The Neighborhood

The apartment is steps away from the N/W trains, as well as the M60 and Q69 buses. It’s also near a bunch of cool restaurants, cafes, and bars (The Bonnie, Mosaic, Under Pressure, Bohemian Beer Garden-- just to name a few), as well as fast food places (McDonald’s, Starbucks, Krispy Kreme). There's also a TJ Maxx, a 24-hour CVS, a supermarket at the end of the block, and a Target under construction.

About You
You’re mature, honest, and respectful of one’s personal space. You also have excellent communication skills and are extremely prompt with rent and utilities. I'd prefer someone who can stay long-term-- the departing roommate has been here for almost three years. No couples, smoking, drugs (though weed is okay), or frequent overnight guests.

I'm a 37 year old cis female (pronouns: she/her/hers) with a standard 9-5 job. I currently work from home, though that could change since I am also actively job searching. I'm friendly, honest, and respectful, but also keep to myself and view my home as my sanctuary. I cook a few times a week and rarely use the living room. I’ve been in Astoria and this apartment for almost 9 years and have loved every minute of it!

Rental requirements

Rent is $1125 a month, plus a security deposit of $1125. Please provide proof of income (pay stubs and tax return) and roommate references. You would also need to sign a roommate agreement on or before move-in.

Pets Policy

Small pets are okay, but dogs/cats require a conversation with the landlord.
