This loft is an expansive, flexible live/work loft in a unique, close-knit community of artists, filmmakers, and other creatives. We will be traveling for December and part of January. Our dates are flexible through Feb. 1. We are in a great location in Lincoln Heights.

The space is a great place for an IT professional, creative person in the film industry, photographer, graphic designer, or other digital creative. It also has a large and fully equipped kitchen and can accommodate a family or two couples.

The fully furnished studio has 22’ ceilings and an upstairs loft. The upstairs loft is about 300 sq’, and has a queen bed, a large closet, and 2 desks. The bathroom is upstairs, with a shower and a separate entrance from the bedroom and the hallway.

Half of the 1600’ main floor has a fully equipped hi-end kitchen, a dining table for 8-10, and a living area. Beyond that is the studio area with a drafting table, 15’ cork wall, and cable system to create mood boards, hang storyboards, etc. An extra-large work table provides ample room for a desk, an edit system, a large computer set-up, etc.

The space can easily accommodate 2 adults and one or two children - a toddler and a baby. We've added a sleeper sofa downstairs (not pictured) for a guest or a child. We have a grandchild and have a portable crib and a toddler bed available. We also have plenty of toys, a large cushioned playpen, baby dishes, etc. There are stairs, however, so parents need to supervise.

There is an Epson HD projector and super high-speed internet, a TV with streaming, and an analog stereo to plug in your own devices. A pulley system can also divide the space, hang canvases, or darken the screening area.

We have our own restaurant and bar onsite for a good and not-too-expensive meal and a wide selection of craft beers and liquor. It’s a great space to meet the community as well. There is a small park on the 22-acre site.

The studio complex is on a large gated property with 16 buildings and a large community of 500+ artists. Our studio is up a flight of stairs and not a good fit if you are not able to climb stairs. There is off-street parking, a security guard at night and the lot entrance has a guard on weekend evenings

The location is fantastic. It is located just a mile or two from Chinatown, the Geffen Contemporary, the Arts District, Little Tokyo, and downtown LA. There is an awesome range of restaurants, with many offering take-out and delivery. At the high end, David Chang’s Major Domo is a short walk for weekend takeout. Or you can get great Mexican food and tortas right on the corner. We are also close to The Broad, MOCA, the JAM, and major galleries like Hauser and Wirth.

With easy access to the 5, 10, 2, 101, and 110 fwys, the major studios and locations from Pasadena to Santa Monica are easily accessible. Nearby are two parks, including the Los Angeles Historical Park, where you can walk, stretch out, or picnic. There is a great bike path along a renewing stretch of the LA River in Frogtown that connects to Silverlake, Atwater Village, and Griffith Park. The 76 bus and Dash stop outside the front door, Union Station is a little over a mile away, and the Gold Line is a 20-minute walk. It can take you to the beach in 45 minutes and to Hollywood in about 20 minutes.

The Brewery is the largest Artists’ Colony in the US and has an amazing creative community with 300 live/work studios and some 500 residents. It is home to many well-known LA artists, film folks, and other creatives like Diavolo Dance Company and the Two-Bit Circus.

We are very close to and supportive of our neighbors and are practicing strict social distancing if ill with COVID or the flu. We are looking for people who are caring, respectful, trustworthy, and socially conscious.

The Brewery does not allow loud music after 11. You are welcome to have small gatherings. Smoking is not allowed inside the studio, but there are many outdoor areas available.

About This Lister

I am an artist, filmmaker, DP, and former member of Local 600. In 2018, I started an arts-based non-profit focused on student civic empowerment and social justice. In 2019, we drafted and helped pass legislation to help 3 million college students vote in CA. I live just down the hall with my husband, who is also an artist. We are going to be in Athens for at least a month to help care for a family member who is ill.

I have had my film and installation work exhibited at MoMA and numerous other museums and galleries. For years, I worked on independent films as a DP and producer with films at Sundance, Cannes, Venice, etc. As a long-time New Yorker, I have always loved loft living - big spaces full of possibilities. I really love The Brewery, a unique and caring community on this unusual and historic industrial site - and yes, once the home of Pabst Blue Ribbon Brewery. I love connecting with people, working with young activists, and making art that helps to activate people and communities.
