๐พ The Space:
Golden Kin is an artist residency focused on nurturing creative practices in a four-bedroom farmhouse that offers a serene live-work space designed with care to foster creativity, connection, and rest. Nestled in the heart of Hudson Valley farmland, recharge, create, and connect just 15 minutes from Hudson (Amtrak) and Red Hook, NY.
Bedroom: You'll have a private furnished room on the 2nd floor with a full-sized bed and fresh linens and towels. Couples are welcome on a case-by-case basis.
Shared workspaces:
- Sewing studio for basic textile work
- Digital editing station for photo/video projects
- Flexible performance space for movement, sound, and experimentation
- Quiet offices for focused writing or research.
Expansive natural surroundings: 1500 acres of lush fields, pasture trails, and stunning mountain views to inspire reflection and creativity.
Living areas include: new kitchen with stainless appliances, serving pantry, full bathroom with bathtub (2nd floor), dining room, living room, music room (with full-size piano), sun porch (seasonal), washer and dryer, hardwood floors, and abundant plants. Basement and attic storage available.
๐ด Community:
Moving is hard, so we offer support to make it easier. Golden Kin is rooted in kindness, collaboration, and care. Residents are invited to shared meals, gatherings, and local outings with the resident artists, facilitated introductions, and opportunities to engage the community through workshops, public programs, and studio visits.
๐ Who Weโre Looking For:
We welcome anyone who shares these values, with priority given to LGBTQ and BIPOC folks. We highly recommend you have a car to get around, though we can team up to run basic errands together if not. Our house is an easy 15 minute drive from the Amtrak station in Hudson, so getting to-from the city is a breeze.
๐พ Please note: We share the space with two resident dogs and a charismatic cat and therefore are unable to accommodate other pets.
You'll be co-living with artists Kate Warren (@gokateshoot) and Megan King (@mgking_), self-employed professionals in our mid-30s who keep a clean, cozy house, enjoy family-style dinners, and often sew in the evenings to unwind. We share roots in rural, mountainous regions and the belief in the transformative power of community.
Kate is a photographer, professor, and marketer from VT. Megan is an interdisciplinary artist and production manager with extensive experience directing large-scale creative projects and exhibitions from Southern Appalachia. We both love to quilt, hike, and play with the house pets.
We created Golden Kin as a space for mutual support through co-living, fosters space for artists to gather, reflect, and create in an environment that balances care, collaboration, and creative freedom. Join us!
