Hello! I will be subletting my home in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn for all of January. I am an architect and the apartment is a labor of love. It is also surprisingly spacious and affordable for the neighborhood! Here are some notes about the place.
The Apartment:
The apartment occupies the entire top floor of a Brooklyn brownstone. With south-facing windows and shorter buildings across the street, there is lots of light all day long! It has a bedroom with a double bed, a large living room, a kitchen, and another large living space with a dining table for six and an office area. The kitchen is compact and well stocked (coffee grinder, french press, drip, four burner stove, oven, microwave, toaster, food processor, rice cooker, all manner of pots and pans and tableware. There will be an empty closet for you with clothes hangers provided. (I will store my stuff in the other closet). The apartment is fully furnished with a mix of mid-century antiques, recent designs, and even a few custom pieces I’ve done myself ! There is a projector for watching movies, speakers for music, and also a 1,000 book library for you to peruse!
The Neighborhood:
The place is in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. The building is on a quiet, tree-lined block near Tompkins Street. Best location! Tompkins is a quaint shopping street with many local businesses. There are multiple good grocery stores nearby. Excellent restaurants in the area include Corto coffee (great place to work or read), Peaches, and Saraghina. Very nice small bars around like Barb's, Bad Luck, Oddly Enough, Toad wine bar, etc.. Herbert Von King park is about a 10 minute walk. If I had all the money in the world, I would not move to a different part of New York.
Transit:
Very close to the A express train which goes straight to downtown brooklyn, lower manhattan, soho, greenwich village, chelsea, midtown, columbus circle, central park, upper west side, harlem, etc. The G is also walkable (goes through brooklyn and queens). The S (a tiny train) goes to Prospect park. Being on the express train is very convenient! Saves a lot of time.
The Details:
All utilities are included except electricity. The wifi is very fast and suitable for those working in creative industries. Heat is provided by a radiator system for the whole building -- it is always toasty and heating costs are included in the rent. Rent is $2,890. The apartment is available for the entirety of January (1st-31st -- It might be possible to extend slightly if you like too let me know!). Three sets of keys will be provided. If there is ever a problem with the apartment, I will be available to you by email and my personal cell number.
Final notes:
Please let me know if you are interested and we can set up a phone call! This is not some random Airbnb – it is my home! And it would be my pleasure to welcome you.
Thank you!
I'm an architect and writer in my 30s. I am very clean and neat. It's my profession, of course, but I care very much about design and aesthetics. For three months, you will be the steward for my home! I hope you will enjoy my collection of furniture, art, books, and object. Thank you!
This is my home!
I'd just like to talk on the phone and get to know you. I can answer any questions and we can settle the details. I love the other people who live in my building and I've promised them I will find a good person for the winter! Hope it's you.
