I am offering my super peaceful studio apartment in Berlin-Neukölln for a housing swap or sublet in NYC, ideally in Brooklyn (e.g., Fort Greene to Bed-Stuy) or Manhattan (Lower, or Upper as well).
I recently completed a brief post-grad program on the U.S. East Coast and will be in NYC starting January. My dates are flexible, and I’m open to arrangements ranging from a couple months to a year, with the possibility of beginning as early as January 1st.
The flat is located in Neukölln, just a 6-minute walk from the U8 Leinestr. station and a 3-minute walk to Tempelhofer Feld. It’s surrounded by large parks, including Anita-Berber-Park and St.-Jacobi-Kirchhof, and offers easy access to amazing amenities: great cafés, restaurants, and the new Publix co-working/research center just a 5 minute walk away. Multiple grocery options (organic, international, and local markets) are within a 10-minute walk, and anywhere in the city’s inner ring is reachable within 30-40 minutes.
The 1-room apartment is on the second floor (one above ground level), facing the back of the building with views onto an very serene green space. It’s exceptionally quiet, with absolutely no street noise. The space includes a large living/sleeping area (23 sqm/250 sq ft), a spacious kitchen with a washing machine and a large fridge, a bathroom with a tub, and hallway. It also features 3m/10ft high ceilings and many exposed historic details.
Feel free to reach out with any questions or for additional details!
I (he/they, 32) am a Berlin-based architect specializing in adaptive reuse, urban regeneration, and participatory design, currently exploring some professional opportunities in New York City. My academic research mostly centers around the creation of public space. This flat has been my minimalist retreat for a number of years—a quiet haven in a vibrant area–where I’ve loved hosting and sharing its charm with friends and guests.
