Big sunny room available in a two-person place on a quiet street in the Heights. Right near great restaurants and walking distance from Fort Tryon Park. Wood floors, sunlight in every room. Top floor of the building so no one is walking above. The apartment has a dishwasher, laundry in the building, and my favorite thing is the BIG old-school bathtub. I'm just moving in as you can see from the artwork that isn't hung up yet but I hope to stay longer-term and ideally looking for someone who would too. Shorter stay possible for the right person. Utilities included.
Looking for a super kind, thoughtful, communicative roommate with a good sense of humor who wants to make this place a real home for both of us.
Your room is at the back of the apartment away from the street and extra peaceful. It's big with room for desk, small sofa etc. Comes partially furnished with a bed, nightstand, and lamps. The closet is deep and tall for great storage. My bedroom used to be a living room and has a dining table, couch etc. that we can use for dinner parties sometimes. There will also be a table and chairs in the kitchen. I like to keep common spaces clean and peaceful.
Accessibility: the main entrance to the apartment has a bunch of stairs and the side/basement entrance without stairs leads to a small elevator with a pull door. I just arrived and haven't fully explored but happy to take specific measurements. I'm Covid-cautious (masking in most public indoor places) but you don't have to be as long as you're a good communicator about symptoms/known exposures. I have a quiet air purifier for the apartment common space. I also avoid strong chemicals and chemical perfumes (scented candles, perfumed laundry detergent, etc.)
Looking for a really good fit so please tell me about you and what has made a living situation work great for you in the past. Extra points if you already own the kitchen table and power drill I need to finish setting this place up.
I'm a playwright who is usually busy making plays, seeing other people's plays, cooking soup, off at a protest, or trying to get a dosa recipe right. Not yet certain what my balance of work-from-home to outside day job will look like yet. I'm 41, queer (nonbinary lesbian), white, Jewish. I like sharing great TV (must agree at the new League of Their Own is a masterpiece) and book recommendations. I'd love to start having dinner parties again regularly if my new roommate is game.
Current tenant
First month's rent and security deposit.
I have a cat and additional pets may be possible as long as they get along. This is a BIG neighborhood for dog lovers and there's a dog group at the park across the street every morning. I'm fully a sucker for both cats and especially cat-sized dogs just FYI
