My cosy Greenpoint room is available for all of December and half of January as I'm travelling back to Australia for Christmas! There's a queen bed, desk with chair, small chest of drawers and a closet plus a Juliet balcony with large sliding glass door.
It's in an apartment at the top of a relatively new-build, five-story walk up off Manhattan Avenue at the top of Greenpoint. There's no elevator so be prepared to hike up and down the stairs.
The reward though is being above most of the surrounding bulidings and, facing south and east, the apartment receiving plenty of light, particularly the living room. It also means nice views (including from my room) across the rooftops of Greenpoint with plenty of sky. There's also a large balcony with outdoor furniture and lights!
There's a large living room and kitchen area with hardwood floors couch and TV which is the centre of the apartment. My room is on the "ground floor" off the living area, and there are two other bedrooms upstairs (plus the second bathroom).
The street is pretty quiet and residential and the top of Greenpoint is generally quite chill too. There's a large grocery story less than 5 mins walk away and plenty of cafes, bars, restaurants and shops nearby on Manhattan Av. We're also about a 10 minute walk to the East River which is great for hanging out or jogging.
The apartment is pretty well situated for transport:
- the Greenpoint Avenue stop on the G is about 8-10 min walk
- the Greenpoint stop for the East River ferry is about a 13-15 min walk
- the Vernon Blvd-Jackson Av stop on the 7 is about a 20 min walk over the Pulaski Bridge taking you straight into Grand Central,
- buses run down Manhattan Av regularly.
You'd be living with two other housemates, both male in their thirties who work mostly from home but occasionally outside the apartment. One works in mapmaking and the other between golf caddying and managing a logistics company. The former will be moving out around Christmas though.
The house vibe is pretty laid back. We all come and go and are respectful of each other's space. We're not a party household although friends sometimes visit. We hang out occasionally for pizza, a chat or to watch TV or make a coffee. We not strict with cleaning but all chip in to keep the place tidy/take out the rubbish.
Amenities:
- a washer and dryer
- TV
- wifi
- gas stove & oven, mini stove and microwave
- Breville Barista Pro espresso machine
- dishwasher
- central AC/heating
- two bathrooms.
I'm a thirty-something Australian man living in New York for two years and working in social media for the United Nations. Before this I lived and worked in London for 4 years in higher education.
I play football/soccer (lifelong Aston Villa fan!), ski, travel regularly, speak a bit of French and am learning Spanish. I'm interested in the environment and creating a sustainable world, social justice and music (lapsed guitar player).
My housemates enjoy coffee, tea, golf, cycling and Ozark so if any of these tickle your fancy you might be a good fit for the apartment.
Current tenant
Requirements:
- ID
- reference
- signing a sublease agreement
- the first month's rent paid upfront
- deposit ($2,000) paid upfront (this will be returned at the end of your stay if the room and apartment are still in good condition)
- utilities ($100 on top of rent) paid at the end of your stay.
Rent will be calculated at a monthly rate. For any period over a month, the rent will be calculated at a daily rate based on the monthly rate divided by 31 days. In other words, $2,250 / 31 = $72.50 / day.
For instance, if you stay for 5 weeks total rent would be calculated at 1 month ($2,250) plus 7 days ($507.50) = $2,757.50.
Viewing can be arranged on an ad hoc basis. Drop me a message and we can work out a day and time that suits us both.
I'm looking for someone to move in ideally from 30 November but the move in and move out dates are flexible (within the period that my room is available 30 Nov 2024 - 12 Jan 2025).
