Work solo but tired of working in isolation? The most amazing things are created when we come together! We are building a small, intentional community of coworkers who are passionate about healing, creativity and liberation and want to work alongside like-minded people.

The Asterisk coworking space is different from others. There is no front door person or daily office manager. We rely on the community members to take care of themselves, each other and the space. Because of this, we are selective when choosing our coworking community.

Once approved, coworking members have no obligation or long-term commitment. You just pay to reserve your spot and come and go as you please throughout the day. Work from the shared tables or standing desks in the Both/And room, grab a coffee or make lunch in the kitchen, eat at the dining table or relax in the lounge. For private meetings, you can book time in the meeting room. And while you're here, have a chat with other great people who do great work!

The Asterisk has stellar wifi and a dedicated parking lot. We're steps away from a long rail trail for afternoon walks and we’re in walking and biking distance to many shops and restaurants in uptown Kingston!

Coworking is available Monday-Friday from 9-5. We are offering a limited number of spots each day in make sure the space feels accessible and not over-crowded. We aim to be an affordable option, with low daily rates and an optional monthly membership.

We're offering a discounted rate as we roll out our space. A full day is $20 and a half day is only $14.

To become a coworking member, you must start by filling out the at KingstonAsterisk.com/coworking. We’ll follow up to find a time to chat and learn more about each other. Once approved you you can start scheduling what days you want to work!

We are working to build a community of collaborators and cross-pollinators who are eager to share and grow alongside one another. We imagine a place where we can do revolutionary-, care- and community-centered work alongside people who share our passion and vision for a liberated world. We believe creativity is healing, healing is justice, and justice is fueled by creativity. We enthusiastically welcome people of color, queer and trans folk and anyone who needs an inclusive place to work.

About This Lister

Leigh (he/they) and Charles (he/they) are co-conspirators, co-owners and co-managers of the Asterisk. We’re two queer and trans folk who wanted to create a place where we wanted to go to work, alongside rad folk committed to art, healing and social justice.

Charles Thompson-Shealy is a liberation-centered clinical psychotherapist and the owner of Cenote Therapy. They are a textile and print artist and all-around creative queerdo that loves to make things with his hands and is always down to learn a new artistic technique or medium.

S. Leigh Thompson-Shealy is an equity and justice strategist, consultant and coach, a Theatre of the Oppressed Joker, a master facilitator and joyful trouble-maker. As a former theatre kid, Leigh believes they can make anything with some duct tape, zip ties and binder clips.

We have the same last name because we are family. We raise a kiddo together in a home we share with a dog and cat in Kingston. We are obsessed about community and think it’s our most powerful resource.
