- Piano instruction (all levels, all ages)
- Music theory (from basic concepts to advanced harmony + history)
- Composition coaching (helping you develop your musical ideas)
- AP Music Theory test preparation
I am offering private piano lessons, music theory instruction, and composition coaching. Lessons can be scheduled for 30, 45, or 60-minute sessions, available both in-person (at your home or my studio in Greenpoint) and virtually to suit your needs.
I have been teaching piano and music theory for 6 years, with experience working with students of all ages and abilities. I have taught private lessons in New York and Los Angeles and at after-school programs in Birmingham, UK and Connecticut. I also offer coaching prep for performances and competitions and have helped prep a Miss Deleware winner and Ms America finalists for the performance part of the contest. I have helped numerous students successfully prepare for and pass a variety of Music Theory exams, including Certificate of Merit, Royal Conservatory Exams, and APs.
Lessons are thoughtfully tailored to each student's interests and goals. Whether you’re hoping to learn music for the first time, prepping for a performance or exam, or want to begin composing and expanding your theory knowledge, we'll develop a personalized curriculum that works for you. I welcome students of all ages and experience levels - from complete beginners to advanced musicians.
Camille De Beus is a pianist, composer, and educator based in Brooklyn. She believes music has the power to enrich everyone’s life, and she aims to make sure her students leave each lesson with the tools and understanding to grow as musicians outside of the classroom.
She has had work premiered by the Mivos Quartet and played by Birmingham Contemporary Music Group. She has scored several short films and helped score a soon-to-be-released feature film—a documentary about a North Korean school near London. Her scores have been screened at Film Maudit 2.0 and the Birmingham Film Festival, amongst others.
She has performed internationally – including at The Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust (LAMOTH), The Rudolfinum (Prague), The Notre Dame (Paris), and The MuTH (Vienna).
In addition to composing and performing, De Beus has volunteered for music non-profits, as a musical coach for The Harmony Project’s orchestra and teaching a composition program through From the Roots Community Interest Program in Birmingham, UK.
De Beus holds a BA with honours in Music from Wesleyan University, where she studied composition under the direction of Dr Tyshawn Sorey. She also holds a Master’s of Music in Composition from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, where she studied with Ed Bennett and Amber Priestley.
