This position is intended as a jumping off point for a career in professional art making, photography or the like. While it is intended that you will learn a lot here we still need proof of your abilities to show us that you are capable of performing the tasks that we need, quickly and well. If you have already worked in a print studio, artists studio, photographic studio or something similar this will be an advantage so please demonstrate your relevant experience. This job is hands on and at times pressured. It requires well developed manual skills which is why we generally hire artists. We do need to know that you can handle the rigours of a fast paced work environment.
This job specifically entails cutting prints with a knife and ruler, quality assessment while cutting and handling, packaging the prints for shipping and entering information to update the job database and the shipping software. You will be required to answer phone and email inquiries and liaise over jobs with the customers. You will not be asked to print, retouch or use a camera even if these things are your passion. There is however enormous room for growth over time so any additional skills you do bring would be an asset. Such as computer skills in professional photo editing and desktop publishing software, professional art handling, experience with large format printers etc. For now you will need to be content with an entry position assisting others in the studio, being as helpful as possible. A pleasant, willing and sociable demeanour is essential. We are a tight knit studio and you will need to fit in with our team and make yourself indispensable.
For the right candidate this job will evolve into full time permanent position bit we need to assess your skills over time.

Skink Ink Fine Art Printing is one of the premier digital fine art printing services in New York City. We specialise in fine art ink-jet printing using pigmented inks and archival papers. Also known as Archival Pigment Printing or Giclee Printing. We print for artists, photographers, illustrators and designers. Anyone who wants an exhibition quality print or an edition of prints that have been created of captured digitally.
This is a part time position, we ask that you commit to three days per week, in times of peak demand there may be additional days available. We pay hourly so you will always be paid for the time that you work.
