I am renting my room in a large 4 bedroom 900sqft apartment in the heart of Chelsea in the corner of 24th Street and 9th Avenue. The room itself is the largest in the apartment with 115sqft, gets lots of sunlight facing 9th Ave (and a view of the Empire State Building), and comes equipped with a queen size bed, one large closet, one large dresser, one standing desk (with desk chair, external monitor), small 26" flat TV, two bedside tables, and large mirror.
The apartment is spacious with a fully equipped kitchen with modern appliances and industrial cookware. Includes fridge, large stove + oven, large microwave, and lots of shelving and cooking space (ideal for meal-prepping). The living room enjoys lots of sun during the day and includes a large (10x11) sectional couch that sits 6 people comfortably, a 60" TV with surround sound an accent chair, and a couple of plants to keep you company.
About the roommates:
You will be sharing the apartment with 3 (QUIET) young professional gay guys in their early 30s working in law, architecture, and media finance. Everyone has 9-5 PM office hours and works from home once per week. While they are social and welcoming of houseguests, they tend to use the common areas to cook, eat, relax, watch TV, or read. Everyone is pretty tidy and collaborates in the upkeeping of the common areas but we have a cleaner come twice per month for a deep clean (about $25/pp)
About the neighborhood:
The neighborhood is residential and quiet while being extremely central. You can easily access anywhere in the city (including Brooklyn and Queens) within a 20-minute subway ride. You can enjoy plenty of quality restaurants in the area, 3 supermarkets (including Whole Foods) within a 5-minute walk. There are numerous gyms (eg. Equinox, Chelsea Piers, Lifetime, Gym U) within walking distance and easy access to movie theaters and Broadway. Some neighborhood highlights: 5-minute walk to the West Side Park, and a short walk to all the Chelsea art galleries, Meat Packing, and Hudson Yards.
I am a 33-year-old professional working for the United Nations in global philanthropy and development with 10 years of experience in impact investment, and government-private sector partnerships with a focus on technology, infrastructure, and humanitarian relief. I will be on a long-term project in South America returning in the spring. Have been living in this apartment for 5 years and I absolutely love the space and roommates- so I am looking for someone to entrust the space I love and who will be respectful of all things and people here.
Current Tenant
I will be overseas from January 2025 till the end of April for work, but can discuss a prorated deal if you prefer to come a few days early or later. Financial requirements are one month's security deposit, rent payment by the 1st of every month, and utilities (approx $150).
The ideal roommate would share similar demographics (professionals in their 30s) but are flexible depending on your situation and background.
