hi! after a year in this apartment i'm hoping to keep the good vibes going with some new roommates - maybe that's you?
**the apartment**
the spot is a third floor walkup 4 bed / 3 bath. the common room is pretty spacious and cozy, i've fit up to ~30 people in here standing, and ~15 sitting. kitchen is large and accommodates multiple people cooking at once, especially with the current setup. we have a big dishwasher, central a/c, and an in-unit washer/dryer. the common spaces are currently furnished but my current roommates and i haven't decided yet how we're going to split things, so we might need to band together and get some new stuff for the common space
**the area**
we're in north park slope on butler st between 4th and 5th ave -- near the Atlantic Ave 2/3/4/5/B/Q/D/N/R station, but also near Bergen St 2/3, 7th Ave B/Q, and Union St R stations. bordering gowanus and boerum hill, so i spend lots of time in those neighborhoods, too. our street isn't a through street, so it gets less traffic than most, though i wouldn't necessarily call it quiet since there's an elementary school across the street which means during recess hours you hear plenty of kids screaming ✪. i like the area a lot - we're not far from some gowanus spots (i frequent public records & movement climbing gym), the convenience of downtown brooklyn shopping, and the quaint charm of boerum hill + park slope brownstones. usually takes me 15-20mins to walk to prospect park
**the vibes**
vibes are important! i’m hoping to find people who feel the same way… think lots of lamps for ambient lighting, groovy music (i have a rly nice speaker setup) playing through the day, cozy tea time and reading on the couch, dinner parties, sharing meals, art making sessions, etc. i included a pic of a recent gathering so you get a sense of the vibes! but it's not a party house so we have quiet hours, keep things quite tidy/clean. my friend robin is planning to join the lease as well, i'll share more about him if you reach out & we talk further details ☻ also - cat friendly if you have one and wanna bring in a furry friend
**the rooms**
2 rooms are available! they have different move-in dates, because one of my current roommates wants to stay a bit beyond the current end of the lease (apr 15) and move-out on may 1st. but let me know if you have a different timing situation and we can try to figure it out!
*room 1: 1425/mo* : available april 15, it's the smallest and cheapest room in the apartment, but still easily fits a full/queen bed, desk, dresser, and more. two large NE facing windows, you'll share a bathroom with me.
*room 4: 1625/mo* : available may 1, it's the largest room in the apartment, can fit a queen/king bed, desk, dresser, instruments, etc. has a private bathroom as well. big SW window gets lots of direct sunlight all year round.
**the cons**
gotta be honest! i think this spot is a pretty solid deal for what we get, but it's not all perfect:
- living room doesn’t get much natural light (we compensate with lots of nice lamps, gets cozy in evenings)
- walls can be kinda thin so sound does travel thru the apartment, nothing crazy but worth noting
- the super can be slow/difficult - has been annoying to get things fixed on time
**come hang?**
maybe you can see yourself here? i hope so! a bit more about who i'm looking for: hopefully you keep clean & tidy, and intentionally contribute to the common areas, have some form of creative interests/practices, queer friendly, leftist or left-leaning.
if you're interested, yay! send me a message sharing a bit about yourself & what room you'd be most interested in.
i (kyle - he/they) am a freelance artist/designer, 26, queer, vegetarian - i like to bring people together and host gatherings (moon rituals, pop up cafes, environmental activism, etc), enjoy movement practices, baking, listening to groovy tunes ✿
