Our Modern Mountain Lodge is a spacious, self-contained unit on the bottom floor of a beautiful home with hot tub access.

This space would be ideal for a writer or painter looking for a retreat to work with easy access to nearly limitless wilderness for inspiration.

You will have a private parking spot behind the house with direct access to your space. There are steps up to the porch and up to the entry door to the home. You would have the entire floor to yourself, with a full size kitchen, bathroom, laundry, and a fireplace. You can easily set up one of the two bedrooms as a work space.

There is direct access to our beautiful back yard with a variety of trees and flowers (even a hammock hung beneath a willow tree!). Outside, there is a hot tub that is available for your use with at least 30 minutes prior notice.

The neighborhood is very quiet, and there are dozens of hiking/walking trails within a very short drive of the house. Nestled in the heart of Peñasco, with the Jicarita mountain as your backdrop, this is the perfect location for activities such as skiing, hiking, fishing, horseback riding, whitewater rafting & wine tasting. Only a short drive from Sugar Nymphs Cafe, Santa Barbara Camp Ground, Sipapu Ski Resort, Wineries, Dixon Co-op, Taos Canyon & more!

We live upstairs with our dog, and as such, you will hear us walking around and our dog playing. When we renovated your space, we took care to insulate the ceiling as well as we could, which greatly enhances privacy and separation of spaces.

The home is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible.

All utilities are included in the rental price.

About This Lister

We are David and Mary Hines. We own the house, and live upstairs. David is a woodworker, with a workshop in the backyard, you'll see him going back and forth between the shop and the house throughout the week. Mary is an interior designer who primarily works from her home office upstairs. We renovated the rental unit together two years ago.

Lister's Relationship to the Space

We own the house, and will be acting as landlords.

Rental requirements

For stays longer than one month, we require a refundable damage deposit of $500.

The house will be listed for sale, and as such, renters will need to accommodate viewings occasionally. We will do our best to give 24 hours notice of any viewings, and will compensate you with half a day's worth of rent for every showing. The space will need to be presentable, but we don't expect it to be immaculate for showings.
