Sunny and warm, our plant-filled home sits on Brooklyn's Prospect Park with a ton of fun on our doorstep: Prospect Park, Brooklyn Botanic Garden, LeFrak Skate Center/splash pad, Prospect Park Zoo, Lefferts Historical House, Audubon Boathouse, foodie heaven Smorgasburg, and playgrounds and green markets galore. Within a block a supermarket, pharmacy, laundromat, delis/bodega, cafes, restaurants, bars, bagels, 24-hr gym, yoga studio and... the train station! Just 15 min to Manhattan (first stop Chinatown at Canal Street).
We have a pretty typical prewar Brooklyn style apartment. No doorman, no gym, no in-home laundry (but we DO have an elevator). It's not new or shiny, but it's homey, fairly spacious by local standards, and full of warmth. One of the two bedrooms is set up as a children's room with two lofted beds. There are window air-conditioners in every bedroom and living room.
The apartment is professionally cleaned before your arrival and clean linens and basic supplies provided. In the past, guests have been welcome to use our cooking supplies and cleaning supplies and we've just trusted people use their own good judgment on what is appropriate to use and/or replace. We've been lucky to have had wonderful guests.
The favors we kindly ask, are to help care for our houseplants with watering once a week and to take in any packages that may arrive in our absence and please be kind and considerate of our neighbors. Thank you!
Other details: Includes heat, water, gas, high-speed optic internet w/wi-fi, and up to $150/month in electricity ($300 total - which should be enough for two months). If needed, we may also be able to provide a separate workspace w/desk for an additional fee.
I'm a freelance writer, editor, and visual storyteller based in Brooklyn, New York, where I live with a very kind and intelligent person (also a freelance editor) whom I somehow tricked into marrying me a decade ago and am currently raising two young and rowdy native New Yorkers with.
