Hey, I’m Valarie! I’m an artist, seamstress, and craftsperson residing in South Brooklyn.
I initially started this business because I was scarred too many times by bad fitting room experiences and baron plus size sections. Now, with my studio up and running for over a year, I love being able to create what speaks to me artistically and serve a community I adore.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading graphic novels, wandering Prospect Park and hanging out with my shop cat, Bernie.
With over a decade of professional sewing and crafting experience under my belt, my career has been filled with jumping from industry to industry to learn all I can. The first several years of my career were spent in theatre, where I started in Wardrobe (with a hefty splash of Wig Styling). I steadily grew my skills in Costume Construction, Fabric Dyeing, Vintage Reconstruction, and Hand Finishing.
Once I relocated to Brooklyn, I was able to work in some of the top costume shops, working as a Beader/Hand Finisher, Stitcher, First Hand, and Craftsperson. When the pandemic hit, I quickly pivoted to the luxury fashion and bridal industry. I worked as a luxury bridal Sample Maker, as well as head of Alterations and Bespoke Production.
I pride myself on being a well-rounded craftsperson and fiber artist, and would love the opportunity to collaborate with you!
