Seeking two new roommates for shared living in massive Crown Heights apartment

Apartments for Rent

$2,600/month

Location

Crown Heights, Brooklyn

Available

April 1, 2025

Transportation

2/3/4/5 to Franklin Ave

Size

1,000 sq. ft.

My partner and I are looking for one or two people to take over our spot on the lease on our massive top floor apartment on Bedford Avenue and Sterling Place in Crown Heights. Move in date would be April 1st. You would be moving in with our roommate Matt, who lives in the back bedroom. Living with Matt is really all the benefits of having a roommate (an extra hand to help out with apartment stuff, someone to chat with when you're lonely), and none of the downsides. He's extremely quiet and clean, and works a day job and gigs many nights of the week, so is rarely home. We'd really like to leave him in a good situation, living with good, responsible people.

There are three rooms on offer, and it's really a perfect situation for a couple, as you can essentially have your own wing of the house. We currently share the tiny bedroom at the front of the house (photo 4), use the big front room as shared hanging out space (photos 1-3), and use the middle bedroom as a guest room, office, and instrument storage (photos 6-7). However, the big front room can just as easily be used as a large bedroom (photo 5), with small front room as office, and the middle room can be its own bedroom (photo 8).

There is a decent sized shared kitchen (photo 9) and bathroom, a common area for hanging out (photo 10), a massive walk-in closet, and tons of closet space throughout. Small building (only 4 units total), and responsive landlord and super. Note that is is a 4th floor walk up.

Rent would be $2800 total for all the rooms described (this does not include Matt's portion of the rent), or $2600 if you are willing to sign a year lease, which would be preferred. This can be split whichever way makes most sense between two people, depending on how you choose to divide up the space. If you wanted even more space, you could potentially negotiate exclusive access to the living room/ TV room. The space could also work well for a single person who needs an office or studio and is willing to pay a little more.

I have lived in this apartment for 14 years, in many different roommate iterations and in every room of the house. It really is a great place, and extremely conveniently located, right off the 2/3/4/5, the A/C, and the S train. 25 minutes to downtown Manhattan on the train, 20 minute walk to Prospect Park, Brooklyn Museum, Main Branch Brooklyn Public Library, lots of great local shops and restaurants, etc etc.
