Hi there! My roommate and I are looking for someone new to join our 3 bed, 1 bath Prospect Heights home. The smallest, most affordable room ($977/month) is available with a flexible move-in date of mid-February to March 1st, 2025.

The apartment has an incredible location — we’re 1.5 blocks off Grand Army Plaza (Saint Johns and Underhill), so a 5 min walk from Prospect Park and the Saturday farmer’s market. We’re a 7 min walk from the 2/3, 12 mins from the B/Q trains on Flatbush. The neighborhood is lovely — very leafy and accessible to all the bars and restaurants on Franklin (10 min walk), Vanderbilt (5ish mins) and Flatbush (10ish mins). There are coffee shops / corner stores on either end of our block as well as a laundromat around the corner, Gold Star beer counter, and a 7 min walk to grocery stores in either direction. We’re a fourth floor walk-up with windows facing south, north and west so we get a lot of light all day long, which is a favorite part about the apartment. We love living in this building — we have friendly neighbors, and there's a shared back patio behind the building as well as bike storage.

The available bedroom is about 79 sq feet with one west-facing window - we’re including a picture of its previous iteration to spark some imagination. A small closet is in the hallway for your use. The common area includes the living room (hardwood floors) which is open to the kitchen, with recently updated appliances, a dishwasher, and a gas stove. There's one bathroom, also with a window. We will be keeping the couch and some other furniture, so there's room to bring common room stuff if you have any, but we won't be bare when you get here! We want everyone to feel represented in the common areas.

Utilities (electric, gas, wifi) usually average $60-70 per month. Heat is included, and I will say the apartment gets toasty in the winter (which we love). Move-in can be a little flexible around March 1 — we will coordinate with our current roommate for an easy transition.

About This Lister

Ursula - I’m a 28 year old (she/her) associate producer in documentary film and production at 30Rock. I’m queer, politically progressive, and a big fan of awards season. I work in-office 3 days a week and am mostly out of the house in the evenings, but love to come home and watch movies, etc. to unwind with whomever’s around. Almost two years ago, I applied to Adrian’s Listings Project post and we became fast friends - hoping to run it back this time with you! I was previously in the small room and am moving to a larger one, but it’s a great spot and I have loved it. I hope to stay on for the next year, if possible.

Adrian — I'm a 31 year old (she/her) culture journalist who writes mostly about tv, film & documentaries (this is a big watching things household!) This is my fifth year in the apartment, which I have spent a truly unfathomable amount of time in since 2020 and yet still adore. I work 9-5, from home four days a week (in my room) and Thursdays in the office. I'm usually out of the house and social in the evenings and on the weekends, especially when it's warm. Listings Project delivered a gift with Ursula two years ago and we are excited to meet a new addition to our home!

Open to living with all genders, partial to people roughly our age but that's not a requirement. We socialize in the common area and occasionally worked there but primary workstations (if you are wfh) are in the bedrooms. It’s a great kitchen for cooking — we are not big chefs, but cook occasionally and are happy to support that journey for you (as in, will clean up in exchange for a serving). We’re friendly and open to being good friends with new roommates, but also happy to each do our own things and have private time in our rooms. The only thing we ask is open and respectful communication - around people staying over and getting sick, especially. We love to have guests come to stay and we’ve been known to bring in a table for big dinner parties, but we like to know when! We also have a working semi-monthly deep cleaning system we’d like to continue, and are looking for a roommate who will keep things generally neat.

Rental requirements

We are looking for someone to take over for one of our roommates starting mid-February/March and ending July 31st with interest in potentially signing on for the next year if the vibes are good. If you decided to apply for the full year then, there would be a $20 fee toward a background check at the time of the application in August 2025. We are open to a more informal set up until then! Management has been helpful and responsive to date.
