I am a Somatic Experiencing (SE) Practitioner. My work is body-based, trauma informed, and rooted in principles of self-determination. Through individual sessions and workshops, I support folks in listening to their bodies to dislodge trauma that gets locked in our nervous systems, expanding resilience and capacity for joy.
While SE is open to all bodies and lived experiences, some types of harm leave deep reasons why one may not feel like their body is easy to navigate. By making small moves at a time, SE offers a way to notice and honor how our bodies have navigated survival. From here, we can discern what protective responses (fight, flight, freeze) continue to serve us and what might be ready to yield to something different. Like this, we might individually move with more choice and space through our lives, and collectively rebuild cultures of care and joy.
All sessions are 1 hour sliding scale $80-$150. If this range is inaccessible, I am open to conversation and trades. I currently work on zoom (unless you're near Walton, NY) and I am able to meet with folks anywhere in the world.
Drawing upon decades of practicing presence through dance, ceremony, and living with chronic illness, I look to models of care within my queer and disability justice communities.
I believe the project of healing is sacred work, and I come to it with ritual reverence. My attraction to Somatic Experiencing is deeply rooted in my desire for healing within my own lineages, and working with ancestors is one way we can widen the container of support. This approach exists within the larger context of healing from the severing of spirit from body and land as brought upon many of us through white supremacy, and I orient to collective liberation by holding the personal and the systems level together.
I am a white, queer, chronically ill, fourth-generation New Yorker of the Jewish diaspora. I’m also a choreographer, artist, performer, organizer, facilitator and witch.
This practice has initiated profound shifts within myself, my relationships, and how I show up in the world. With these skills, I aim to be in service. I'm excited to connect with everyone who is curious about how SE can support you and your communities.
In 2021 I began a three year study of Somatic Experiencing from Joshua Sylvae and Lael Keen, through Somatic Experiencing International. Alongside that program, I did a year long practice in Somatic Abolitionism with Jennifer-Lee Koble, Carlin Quinn and Resmaa Menakem. I have been offering SE sessions and workshops for the past 4 years, and received my certificate of completion in January of 2024. I currently am an assistant teacher of the modality.
I work with clients whose trauma is layered, and am especially drawn toward working with ancestral and inherited wounds and resources. I have experience working with chronic pain and illness, syndromes and progressive conditions, loss, grief, relational shifts, gender affirming surgery and hormone therapy, and exploring whiteness and supremacy culture as they impact/express in bodies.
I am inspired by and lean into the work of many folks who use SE principles for liberation, including Resmaa Menakem, Prentis Hemphill, Terri Delaney, Danielle Murphy, Sage Hayes, Carlin Quinn, Jennifer-Lee Koble, Diane Long, and Marie Michael.
