Fantastic 2-bedroom apartment on the elevated first floor of a well-maintained rent stabilized pre-war complex. This apartment is fully furnished and supplied with sheets, cleaning products, whatever's in the pantry. We have washer/dryer in unit, a dishwasher, a decent amount of plants, great north-exposed light, and an A/C unit in each bedroom. Most prized among our amenities is the Dyson cordless vacuum.

Please note that we have a dog, but she'll at her grandparents’ house!

There are two entrances to our building: the closer entrance has a short flight of steps, while the further entrance is all ramps. We use a fob to enter the building from either side. There are two lobby steps leading to the apartment.

The apartment itself was last renovated in 2019 with, to quote the StreetEasy listing, “stainless steel appliances, Caesarstone quartz counter-tops, Kahrs engineered hardwood floors, and Marazzi porcelain bathroom tiles.” It’s worth noting that there are nice wide windowsills that I love to sit on next to an open window to read, stare, and/or think.

The first bedroom includes a comfortable queen-sized bed, a closet, and two dressers. The room looks out onto Bergen Street, which is surprisingly quiet at all hours. Just in case it's noisy, this bedroom has a white noise machine.

The second bedroom doubles as a home office. There's a nice full-size flip-out mattress (that works as a sofa when it's not a bed) (my dad described it as “comfy” and he is 70), a full-sized couch, and an adjustable standing desk. There is no closet in this bedroom, though there are two closets located just outside of the room and another closet across from the bathroom. The room looks out onto the entrance of the building with a small courtyard-like area, so there’s no street noise.

The living/dining room is spacious and (humbly speaking) decked out. There's an extendable dining room table, a sofa, a chair, and a 50" 4K LED TV with an Apple TV device and access to our streaming accounts. We have board games, a Blu-ray player (a futile possession in 2025, but hey), and a printer/scanner/copier. This room looks out onto Bergen Street.

The kitchen has a great oven, stove, microwave, fridge. We built a second counter space for ample and convenient storage/prep room, and we also built two shelves to complement the cupboard space. There is a full-sized window with a makeshift desk/counter space that looks onto Bergen Street.

Last but not least, the bathroom: a deep soaking tub, a high-efficiency Hai mobile showerhead, a Bluetooth speaker, a spacious sink, a decent amount of storage. Also—a Toto bidet installed in the toilet (heated seat :) ) if that’s your thing. There is a smaller frosted window that looks out onto Bergen Street.

We’ve put a lot of love and effort into making this space as cozy as possible. We’re two Tauruses who quite simply love being at home, so we put a lot of TLC into making sure this is a place we love to spend the majority of our time. Our main priority is finding subletters who will love it like we do.

We love the neighborhood--lots of families, a great park basically right across the street, lots of shops, restaurants, and grocery stores nearby. I’m personally a regular at the cafe Daughter on Saint John’s Place, but there is an equally loyal community base at The Cotton Bean just down the street on Bergen. There's equidistant accessibility to the A/C lines at Nostrand or Kingston-Throop (C only) and the 3 line at Kingston, both about 0.5 miles away. The B65 stops right across the street.

About This Lister

Me (Kelly, she/her) and Paul (he/him) are a couple who currently live in this lovely apartment and will be your point people for everything before, during, and after your stay. We're both creatives--I work in television and Paul works in all things audio, 2D and 3D graphics and art, crafts of all kinds (I'm obsessed with him, can you tell?) We are both very committed to zero-waste, sustainable living, so eliminating single-use plastics and paper in our home has been and continues to be a major focus. Almost all of our furniture is either thrifted, hand-made, or familial hand-me-downs. We also love to travel--hence the sublet.

I'd be remiss to omit Freya, our 5 year old boxer-husky. She is an absolute sweetie pie who also really likes to call this place home. We clean regularly, but there may very well be Freya fur in hidden crannies around the apartment that we missed. Don't worry, Freya won't be in the apartment while you're there.

We're sentimental nesters, so while "minimalism" may have at one time been the goal, this apartment is, for better or worse, equipped with a lot of stuff. Paul is a fantastic chef, particularly of Italian food, so the kitchen is pretty decked out (KitchenAid, pasta maker, waffle maker, popcorn maker, ice cream maker, pots, pans). We have a lot of storage all over the apartment and we're not afraid to use it.

This apartment really speaks for the both of us, so we hope you like it!
