We are looking for a mature and quiet summer subletter for our large, peaceful apartment in Ditmas Park, Brooklyn.
This is a very spacious one-bedroom, with a big bedroom, a full living/dining room, a separate, large eat-in kitchen, and an entryway area with lots of bookshelves and a large closet. This space would be ideal for a couple, but it of course would work for a single person as well. We have 2 window A/C units, wifi, a fully equipped kitchen, and a large closet and dresser available for your use. We live on the third floor of a quiet prewar apartment building equipped with an elevator. There is laundry in-building, in the basement.
We’re in the Flatbush / Ditmas Park area, on Ditmas Ave between Ocean Ave and Flatbush Ave. We're around the corner from a grocery store and about a 15-minute walk from the Flatbush Food Co-Op, where we usually buy our groceries. Ditmas Park is a unique neighborhood in New York; a couple blocks from us, there are many tree-lined blocks’ worth of historic houses with interesting gardens. The neighborhood has lots of families, a weekly farmer's market, and lots of great coffee shops and restaurants. Prospect Park is also in walking distance/ a few stops away on the Q; we like to go there often!
Our kitchen is fully equipped and everything is yours to use, including a juicer, blender, toaster, food processor, pots/pans/etc, temperature-controlled kettle, various coffee makers, oven/stove, and spacious fridge. Our bedroom is extremely spacious, with a full bed, desk by the window, keyboard, and reading nook. The bathroom has both a shower and a tub. The living/dining room is also spacious, with a three-person couch, TV, record player, four-person dining table, and lots of plants and natural light!
Transportation:
The B/Q/2/5 are all within a 15-minute walk. The B44+ is 5 min away, an express bus to north Brooklyn. The BM1/3/4 are comfortable express buses that leave from right around the corner and take you all the way into Manhattan. There are plenty of bike lanes in the neighborhood, and also plenty of free street parking.
We’re both writers, editors, and writing teachers. We like to stream movies, go on walks in/around the neighborhood, and make dinners at home. We both work from home a good deal; the space is set up really nicely for two people who need their own, separate spaces for working, writing, reading, etc. We've lived in this apartment for several years and enjoy the neighborhood's quiet oasis in a busy city.
Tenant
We’re ideally looking for someone who will stay for at least two months, but within the timeframe we listed, exact dates are flexible. We'd need a one-month security deposit upfront, and the first month's rent on the move-in date.
We're looking for a couple or one person who's clean, quiet, and would treat our home like your own home. We'd also like someone who will water our plants once a week and occasionally collect our mail downstairs.
When emailing, please let us know a little bit about yourself and your reasons for staying in NYC, too. We'll get back to you quickly with a time to call or Zoom.
We'll have the place professionally cleaned before and after your stay. All utilities are included in the price listed. Sorry, no pets.
