I live in a historical building in the heart of Kollwitzkiez in Prenzlauer Berg, one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in Berlin. The apartment has super high ceilings (12 foot+) and lots of light, with most windows and the terrace facing south, looking into the building's courtyard which is filled with greenery and so quiet.
There's a living/dining room, a bedroom with a terrace and a workspace, a kitchen (equipped with everything you might need – I love cooking and baking), a bathroom with a tub, and a separate WC.
There's a projector in the living room to watch movies and a great setup to work remotely, including a walking pad if you want to get your daily steps in while attending your work calls :)
It's on the 1st floor with an elevator. There's a washing machine in the apartment (no dryer, but everything dries quite easily inside if you place it near the heaters. Or you can take it out to the laundromat 4 mins away by foot and use their big dryers). There's also a dishwasher, drip coffee machine, smoothie blender, hand blender, toast maker... etc. and a million complimentary tea bags :) If there's anything specific you can't live without let me know - I probably have it!
Kollwitzkiez is the perfect place to be if you want to be within walking/ biking distance from everything while still staying in a super lively area (think West Village in NYC equivalent). You have the tram and underground less than a few minutes away from the door ready to take you anywhere in the city in a heartbeat, or you can also walk (Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt are both a 20 min walk or less). Prenzlauer Berg has hundreds of fantastic restaurants, bars, small local shops, and the most beautiful architecture.
On Sundays, you have the famous flea market in Mauerpark, which is just a 13-minute walk away and on Thursdays and Saturdays, the farmer's market in Kollwitzplatz is right outside the door with lots of fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers, and even handmade clothes and food and coffee stalls.
The Wasserturm is also only a few steps away and provides a beautiful place to sit for a beer when it's not too cold.
My home is not suitable for pets or children, sorry! No smoking in the apartment (you can smoke in the terrace) and no shoes inside please.
I work as Head of Operations for a tech start-up and I moved to Berlin (from Lisbon) 3 years ago.
This is my dream apartment and I've put so much time and energy into making it cozy and feel like home. I love interior design, fashion and art, and I would be so happy to find someone who would treat my place as their own while I'm away.
I own the apartment and live here
Proof of identity, such as a passport, will need to be provided and then confirmed upon signing the sublet agreement.
Additionally, €1000 security deposit will be refunded after the apartment's condition upon vacancy is confirmed to match the way it was given. There is some flexibility (a couple of days) on the dates.
I'll also be in NYC between October 1st and the middle of November and would love to find a swap for that period of time (preferably in the East Village but flexible anywhere in Lower Manhattan) - if this is you, let me know!
