Our building is a beautiful Art Deco co-op a few blocks from Fort Tryon Park, and I'm the owner of the apartment.

You would share the living room, bathroom and kitchen with my partner and I. There’s a dishwasher and a back courtyard for the building that is open to all.

We have a sunken living room with 2 stairs leading down from the foyer into the living room of the apartment. The building has an elevator that works reliably and a state-of-the-art security camera and intercom system.

The neighborhood is on one of the quieter streets in Washington Heights close to the 181 stop on the A train and the 191 stop on the 1 train. There is some street noise at night, and if you want to live in a quiet area, this is not likely to be the best fit for you even though our building is one of the quieter ones around here.

Some important things to note:

✅We have listed this room for rent for a year, but we are open to a shorter arrangement such as 3-6 months or a longer one beyond a year. Our last renter came intending to stay three months and stayed for two years! Many previous roommates have been actors on a short-term gig, people who are starting a new job and looking for their own place, etc.
✅ This space is best for someone who does not have a lot of stuff.
✅We are both writers and are home a lot. Our work space is right next to this bedroom.
✅Your closet is in the hallway, not in the room itself, and it is not a large storage space.
✅We are not able to remove the bed, but can remove some of the smaller items if necessary.
✅We have a cat and cannot have any additional pets in the apartment.
✅No indoor smoking/vaping of any kind
✅This is a co-op that's mostly owner-occupied - loud noise after 10 PM isn't ok here

About This Lister

I’m a 54-year-old woman (she/her) and my male partner (he/him) who lives with me here is 65. We’re writers who have lived in the building for 20 years.

We enjoy creative pursuits, theater, film, etc. but are home a lot during the day to work. PS, we both love to dance and that’s how we met.

We keep the apartment relatively clean but aren't neat freaks. We are casual about dividing up chores and generally try to switch off cleaning common areas with our roommate but there's not a rigid schedule or anything like it.

We have one black cat named Angelo. He is very friendly and sweet.
