[Move in/out dates flexible; Room still occupied and will be professionally deep-cleaned before your move in]
Our gorgeous, sunny penthouse apartment is less than a block from Central Park. It is two levels. My flatmate and I are upstairs, and you will be downstairs in what is essentially a one-bedroom apartment. You have a private bathroom that is adjacent to your space.
YOUR SPACE
I say “your space” because it is more than a bedroom! It has incredibly high ceilings and half is divided with a loft space! We currently have the space set up with a comfy couch, rug, tv, desk, and chair downstairs so you can have a private living area, and there is a large lofted area that is a feature of the apartment (we did not add it) where we have a *Brand New, never-used mattress.* The set up can be changed if you’d like. The downstairs furniture will fit upstairs in the loft. (Mattress pictured is not the new mattress that you’ll be using)
THE APARTMENT
The penthouse is a walk up, so it is unfortunately not accessible if you have mobility limitations.
The living room has ridiculously high ceilings as well, and houses a gorgeous leather couch that can seat 8, or more importantly, two people lying down. :) We also have a super comfortable leather recliner. We often are not in this room. You will probably often feel like you have a one bedroom apt to yourself, but we occasionally hang out together to play darts and drink cocktails! (The couch & rug pictured are now in your room, and we have a massive gorgeous leather couch!)
Upstairs, we have suites with our own bathrooms as well, and we have outdoor spaces that we share when our schedules match up! It’s a lot of fun!
Features:
- WiFi (duh)
- Dishwasher
- All kitchen amenities, including dishes and cookware you’ll need
- Hardwood floors
- Open view above brownstones
- Lots of light because of the open view
- LESS THAN A BLOCK FROM CENTRAL PARK
- One block to the B/C trains!
LIFESTYLE
We generally do not have people over, but when we do, we ask or alert everyone else ahead of time. We’ll throw a small party/gathering every 3-6 months.
We love to have a clean apartment. I prefer for common spaces to be reset after use, so if you aren’t there, hopefully you cleaned up whatever mess you made so the next person has a fresh space. We don’t cook much; I mostly prepare food upstairs, and my flatmate eats out a lot. I might use the kitchen more in winter, but, might not. Again, we generally aren’t downstairs. And you can almost guarantee we won’t be down before noon, other than my occasionally leaving/returning for the gym.
We both work from home, and we start our days upstairs. Ideally, you have a job that requires you go into the office just so that we don’t have everyone here all the time. Both my flatmate and I head out a minimum of 3 weekday evenings per week, and at least one weekend evening. We spend most of the time apart, but when we do share time together, it’s lovely.
THE NEIGHBORHOOD:
The Upper West Side is fantastic! It can be all of the things; it has quiet spots away from the normal NYC hustle and bustle, including Central Park, which is AMAZING! It also has all kinds of entertainment including The Beacon, Lincoln Center, West Side Comedy Club, live music, etc! It also has every kind of cuisine you could want, and famous & not-so-famous bars. We have multiple gym options, and we’re a 3min walk from both Trader Joe’s AND Whole Foods! The Museum of Natural History & The Met Museum are each about a 12min walk away. You can get to midtown in 8 minutes on the train around the corner, and you can be downtown in 15mins. It really is an ideal spot! You’ll LOVE it here!
US:
Two friends, a guy and a gal, average age: late 30s. We’ve known each other for almost 10 years, and we both love NYC. We’re very apt to yes to any kind of outing or NYC adventure on a whim.
ME:
I founded and run a small consultancy. I also have been in NYC for almost 20 years, so I have a ton of friends here and stay pretty busy socially. I am kinda dating, but I’m not one to often bring that into the apartment. I have a ton of plants upstairs (a few downstairs) and am learning to garden by trial and error - mostly error, so if you have a green thumb, great! I enjoy all kinds of exercise, and am currently doing Orange Theory Fitness. I have a background in Krav Maga and a little dance. Oh - and I started my career as a musical theater performer, actor, and singer, sooo, you may rarely hear me playing piano/guitar & singing upstairs, but honestly our sound privacy is pretty great in this apartment! I’m outgoing but also love my alone time. You’ll often hear my flatmate and me say “I’m gonna have some alone time. I’ve peopled too much this week.”
Lol.
MY FLATMATE:
He also works from home… I don’t want to speak to much for him, but he keeps to himself most weekdays, and - like I mentioned - occasionally play darts at home or go out for dinner or drinks. He is also dating, but rarely brings it home. He is one of the kindest people I’ve ever met (he’s midwestern, and he kept all the niceties) and has a great dry humor. Everyone loves him. I’m sure you will too.
