This is a spacious one-bedroom apartment awash in natural light throughout the day and is a 10-minute walk from Prospect Park and a short commute to Manhattan and other parts of Brooklyn. Strategically located in the heart of historic Prospect Lefferts Gardens, the apartment is close to multiple transport lines, supermarkets, restaurants, bars, laundromats, and a gym. It’s equidistantly located two blocks away from the Q/B line at Prospect Park and the 2/5 line at Sterling. The subway ride to Canal St. takes 20 minutes and a bus takes you to Brighton Beach or Manhattan Beach in 30 minutes. A CitiBike station is across the street from the building and a 24/7 laundromat is one block away. This fifth-floor walk-up apartment gets both morning and afternoon light and a cool draft wafts through it the whole day (especially when you open the kitchen and bathroom windows!) The living room is large and has a desk, a sofa, a small dining table, and a TV, and the bedroom has a king-sized bed and a chest of drawers. Pets, incense, and smoking are not allowed in the apartment. While the living room faces a courtyard, the bedroom overlooks serene backyards of neighboring houses, enabling a quiet night's sleep. With multiple cafés, restaurants, and a jazz bar within walking distance, the location is ideal for someone who likes an active social life and equally enjoys calm. Prospect Park regularly buzzes with music and other events throughout the summer. Staying in this apartment won't be just a regular sublet but more of a cultural experience!

I am a writer, researcher, and educator who specializes in the history and the culture of North Africa and the Middle East from a critical, decolonial perspective, with a focus on Egypt and Palestine. I enjoy reading, writing, running, and listening to music. I will be traveling over the summer to conduct research overseas. Having been a tenant in this apartment since 2015, I grew to love the neighbored more each day because of its diversity, rich culinary culture (especially Caribbean food!), and the friendliness of its residents.

Rental requirements
I am looking to rent my apartment to someone who is responsible, communicates well, and will maintain the apartment’s cleanliness standards. I am looking for a single person rather than a couple. Pets, incense, and smoking are not allowed in the apartment. The apartment is available from May 5 until August 27 for $2,800 a month + $150 for utilities, in addition to a refundable security deposit of $2,800. This amounts to a total of $10,446 for a period of three months and 22 days. Preference will be given to those who want to rent it for the whole period. The apartment comes with two fans, and there is an optional $150 charge for an air conditioner. A cleaning fee of $100 will be charged to pay a cleaner. A non-refundable downpayment of $1,500 is required once you confirm your commitment to the sublet and the rest is paid on the day you move in. The security deposit will be returned in full once the apartment is handed back in its initial condition.
