About this Service

Brooklyn Academics offers individualized, one-on-one programs in test prep, admissions essay writing, and academic support. We instill confidence and acumen in students by treating them as fully dimensional, aspirational people while also holding them to rigorous standards and bench-marked goals. By tailoring study plans according to each student's unique learning style and personality, we help students achieve exceptional results.

Our method is meticulous and personal: we take into account what drives a student, what makes them happy, what makes them laugh, and how those core parts of a student's sense of self can be enlivened to enrich the learning process in ways that lead to unforeseen outcomes.

This year our ACT and SAT students, as well as our admissions essay students, have received acceptance letters to Yale, Northwestern, Stanford, Georgetown, UCLA, University of Michigan, Kenyon, and Bowdoin, among others.

We offer tutoring for high school entrance exams: ISEE, SSAT, and SHSAT. Students preparing for these exams with us over the years have gained acceptance to top private schools as well as top public schools in New York City, including Stuyvesant, Brooklyn Tech, and Hunter College High School.

We also offer GRE tutoring, and our GRE students have gone on to top Ph.D. and M.B.A. programs around the country.

About this Lister

I’m Chad, and I founded Brooklyn Academics on the principle that one-on-one tutoring is the ideal mode of education that allows me to nourish the deeply personal and most exciting aspects of the learning process for each student. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Bates College where I studied both English and Math, and I hold a Ph.D. in English Literature from the CUNY Graduate Center, a top program in the field.

The connections I forge with my students are also key to ensuring each learner’s accountability to our collaborative efforts. That accountability involves fostering their genuine interest in their own growth and building a well-balanced confidence in their capacity to set and achieve concrete goals.

Whether a student is preparing for the ACT, studying for a trigonometry test, or penning a personal statement essay for college applications, these projects are learning experiences that I always view as opportunities for students to flourish academically and personally.

Background and Expertise

Since 2013, we have worked with NYC-based students at our office in Brooklyn. We have also honed highly effective methods for tutoring on Zoom, which allows students across the country to take advantage of our unique services.

Now we’re excited to announce that we have the capacity to grow and take on more students.

While services like ours typically cost over $300 per hour, we’re taking new students for $180 per hour this fall. I should note that the reduced rate differs slightly for in-person sessions.
