My peaceful one-bedroom apartment in the 10th arrondissement of Paris (a 5-minute walk from the Canal St. Martin) is available for two periods:
-November 1, 2024 to January 31, 2025
-February 7-August 7, 2025 (dates flexible)

I prefer to rent my place for at least a month at a time, but please let me know what dates you're looking for and let's see! I will also consider requests for two weeks at a time (at $700 per week).

The apartment is a rare mix of convenience and tranquility as it is located in the bustling Canal Saint-Martin area but nestled within a building with a double courtyard garden—meaning that you're protected from city traffic noise (and instead hear birdsong from the garden). It's an absolute refuge: you'll return from a busy day in the city to calm and cozy cottage vibes.

I have potted herbs just outside the front door (lovely for preparing meals at home), and another neighbor tends to the central garden. The building is very secure: you'll need the magnetic key fob to enter two locked outer doors before entering the first courtyard.

DETAILS
-35.5 m2 (about 382 sq ft) apartment with separate bedroom and living room, kitchen and bathroom. Plenty of closet space.
-High ceilings with original historic molding, hardwood floors, and two authentic marble fireplaces, adding charm to the apartment and the authentic Parisian experience.
-Well-appointed kitchen with everything you'll need to make meals when you want to cook at home—including a gas stove top (a rarity in Paris now) and a new oven, microwave, hot water kettle, large fridge, etc.
-Washer/dryer in the bathroom (bought last year—it's a very efficient hybrid model).
-Plunge-style bath—so lovely for taking a bath/shower after a long day in the city and excellent water pressure.
-Super high-speed Wifi.
-Flatscreen TV (with remotes that allow you to watch Netflix, Amazon, etc. if you have subscriptions—I don't use them or watch TV—but you can!)
-Writing desk in the bedroom and an adjustable dining table in the living room.

ABOUT THE LOCATION
The neighborhood is friendly and well situated. Within five minutes you can be strolling on Canal St. Martin, where all the best cafes and restaurants are! Around the corner you'll find excellent cheese and specialty food shops, boulangeries, patisseries, a great poissonnerie, a knowledgeable wine vendor, and my favorite organic food market with excellent seasonal vegetables.

There's a Velib station (Parisian CityBike) hub a few paces from the entrance and the Metro (#7) is on the same street, just a one-minute walk away. You'll be a 10-minute walk to the RER B (which means you can quickly get from the CDG airport via public transit. You can also get to the heart of the Marais in under 15 minutes by bike…you get the idea! The location is unbeatable, making it easy to bike and walk everywhere.

About This Lister

I'm an artist currently based in Paris after living in NYC for 10 years. I often travel back for work and family reasons, so I'd also be interested in a future apartment swap for a few weeks or a month (starting in August or September 2025). I love Paris but miss New York!

I found my last two subtenants via the Listings Project and it's been a great experience so far—looking forward to hearing from you!

Rental requirements

This is my home filled with art and books—not a soulless Airbnb rental. I'm looking for a trustworthy subletter (solo or couple) who will take care of my place and plants in exchange for a perfect spot to enjoy Paris while I'm away. No parties, pets, or indoor smoking, please.

1. Please send me a short intro email describing the reason for your stay and a little about you. Provide a link to your past Airbnb stay reviews, socials, and/or references. I will do the same, as I understand trust goes both ways. I look forward to hearing from you!

2. If you're ready to proceed, we can schedule a time to talk by phone or WhatsApp, etc. It's essential that we both feel comfortable with the arrangement.

3. To reserve the apartment, I will need a signed sublease agreement, photo ID scan, and security deposit of $1000. The total amount is to be paid before handing off the keys.
