Hi! I hope you are doing well. I am looking for a longterm subletter for my brownstone apartment in Bedstuy. The space is available beginning December 1st, 2024 through June 1st, 2025. Please read through the entire listing to ensure the space is a right fit for you. The photos show the space furnished, however the apartment will be unfurnished (ideally with the exception of the dining room set that I would like to keep in the space, but can be discussed further).
About the apartment:
The apartment is on the parlor floor (2nd floor/1 flight of stairs) of a beautiful Bedstuy brownstone. The apartment opens to a floor to ceiling length mirror in the living area, with the dining room and kitchen both facing the street. It is an older apartment with an immense amount of charm and an even greater amount of space -- with chandeliers throughout, huge windows and original hardwood floors.
The kitchen has a built in cabinetry, a gas stove, large fridge and a small dishwasher.
The bedroom is quiet and faces the backyard of the building, with three large windows that provide great natural light during the day, and a built in mirror. It can easily fit a queen size bed, desk, and bookshelf and has a built in closet.
The bathroom is a good size with a full shower/bathtub. Pictured here the paint is blue, but I am open to that being painted if you'd prefer.
In terms of accessibility, this apartment is unfortunately not ideal for someone who uses a wheelchair/has mobility limitations with stairs.
Please note** There is a studio attached to the apartment that I will use when I am working/staying in NYC. This studio has its own private access from the building corridor and the shared door to the apartment is insulated for sound and locked off.
You will have your own independent entrance to the apartment, and there will be no shared spaces.
About the building & neighborhood:
There are 5 units in the building with a pretty quiet atmosphere. Ideal for someone (or a couple) who doesn't bring the party home and likes a more chill living environment. The landlord lives a few buildings down and any maintenance issues are taken care of very quickly (I will be your point of contact for that). Also please note that there is no laundry in the building, but there is a laundromat half a block away.
The apartment is located on Hancock St and Bedford Ave. For nearby public transportation: the Nostrand A/C train is 2 blocks away, the Franklin C and Shuttle trains are located 5-7 minutes away, and the Bedford-Nostrand G train is a 10 min walk.
It's a super low-key block, with a mix of neighbors who have been here for over 20 years, and newcomers. Not super noisy, and overall a pretty low traffic street aside from the occasional firetruck or morning rush. There are a good amount of restaurants and bars nearby, two grocery stores, Blink and Planet Fitness, and a Shake Shack & Chipotle -- all very walkable.
My name is Gabriel and I am a creative working in the fashion/film/music industries. I have lived in NYC for 14 years and this apartment has been my home for the past 4+ years.
I have loved being in this space and it has truly been my dream Brooklyn apartment. In light of my upcoming work and travel schedule, I am looking for someone to take on the apartment and make it their own for the next 6 months.
Happy to share more information about myself if you are interested in the space, and I will be the one showing the apartment.
I am the leaseholder of this space.
I am looking for a renter who is looking to stay the entire 6 months (flexible for discussion) with a possibility to extend our sublet agreement, which we can discuss closer to June.
The rent is $3,500/month, including Fios Internet and Utilities (Electric and Gas), plus a refundable security deposit of $3,500. We will sign a sublease agreement that outlines our agreement terms, and details in regards to damages, security deposit, etc.
Proof of ID, income/means to pay, and a copy of your current credit report will be needed and used to determine who will rent the space.
