In search of a wheelchair-accessible apartment in Brooklyn, Manhattan, or Queens for a person fighting brain cancer who recently had to vacate his walk-up apartment as he is no longer able to manage the stairs. This is urgent, as he is currently staying with family but will have to leave by the end of April.
Ideally 1.5 or 2-bedroom (room for him and his caregiver) and month-to-month or a 6-month lease. hoping to pay around 3500/4K but we don’t want to rule anything out if it’s the right space. Furnished or unfurnished is fine, just needs room to maneuver accessibility equipment.
If you have a space for rent or know of someone who might, we’d very much appreciate any leads. Would be ready to move May 15th or before.
I am a family member of this person's long-time partner and current caregiver. He is a wonderful, kind guy who unfortunately has to deal with the brutal New York housing market on top of the brutal illness he is fighting and all the logistical burdens that go along with it.
