Hola everyone!
I’m looking for a cool, respectful, conscious renter for my really special sunlit Condesa apartment June 9 to September 9 (3 months). I would love to find someone who wants to spend the entire summer in CDMX, since I don't live locally and managing guest transitions can be difficult. Plus, it's better for you to enjoy my favorite season in CDMX (cool in the evenings, warm in the afternoons, a light shower late afternoon.)
***Note: the apartment is also available from now (April 15) until May 26 (I arrive back then, for a week). Since this period is approximately 1.5 months, I am looking for $3,500 for that entire period but am flexible, if you cannot stay the entire time. Please inquire :)***
This is a really lovely, open, sunlit curated space full of mid century furniture, lots of great art, a projector, two bedrooms, and plenty of room to spread out, situated right on Avenida Amsterdam in the heart of Condesa. Every cool, hip restaurant in Mexico City is walking distance, as are the best retail shopping in North America, great cafes + record stores, three beautiful parks (Parque Mexico is 100 meters away; Parque España is a short walk, and Chapultepec - the largest urban green space in Latin America - is a 20 minute walk.) Avenida Amsterdam was ranked one of the "coolest streets in the world" by TimeOut (https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/time-out-coolest-streets-2022/index.html) and it truly is. You can start your day running on the tree-covered path at the center of the boulevard, which encircles Parque Mexico, and your evenings strolling between the cafes. Beyond the cuteness factor, every big-box style retailer you need is close too - we have an Office Depot and Petco around the corner, and both Sears and Sanborn for anything else you need. There's also a grocery store near, and a traditional mercado (Mercado Medellin) a 5-10 minute walk from the apartment.
This is a creative apartment. I work on the business side of the film world + the art world, and directors, artists, and other cool folks have stayed here. You can find some of their work on the walls!
I’m looking for drug-free (420 ok but not inside the apartment, please and thanks!), responsible, mature folks who are looking for a great place to chill, work (this is a definite get-stuff-done space!) at treetop level on the most beautiful street (arguable, I know!) in CDMX. If you're a writer, this is where you write your next novel. If you're a nomadic entrepreneur, this is a great place to hatch your next big idea. Or if you just want to relax, make art, enjoy the neighborhood, it's perfect for that too.
Some facts and notes:
☀️ lighting is incredible - 270 Degree sunlight, above treetop level so you'll get great light even when the street level is overcast
🏡 2000 square feet, 2 bedrooms + office, and 4 bathrooms
🛋️ really chic design, sourced locally from the 50s, 60s, and 70s
👋🏼 live-in Portero and family (who are extremely helpful), but not 24 hours at the front. There is a double gate/door set up so it's very secure.
Other fun stuff:
- Nespresso machine (though there are 50 amazing coffee shops within walking distance!)
- everything you need to cook - pots, pans, stove, knives, cutlery, etc
- projector and pull down screen
- ample closet space in every bedroom and in the hallways/kitchen
I'm listing here because I would would prefer not bouncing between different folks/managing the ins and outs.
I have openings for the following:
📍April 15-May 26 (1.5 months / $3,500 for entire period)
📍June 9-September 9 (3 months / $2350/month / $7050 for entire period)
As of now, I plan to use the apartment after September 9 but *that may change*. If you are looking for a longer duration or dates later in the fall, please inquire. However, please note that I definitely use the apartment January, February, March (it is my home base then) so please don't inquire for dates that overlap with those as it won't be possible.
A couple of things to note:
- I've lived here for four years and my landlord is great. I will for sure let her know that someone is staying in the apartment, which is why it's so important to me that the person be someone I can trust with the home.
- This is one of my primary residences and was furnished/designed/curated by yours truly! I like to think that it looks and feels pretty good :)
I ask that you not bring in additional furniture or significantly move any of the furniture or art, as it's being rented furnished/decorated. There are of course exceptions for your comfort (i.e. I don't mind if you bring a desktop computer, "tools of the trade" for whatever you do, a standing desk etc.) Please just let me know what you're thinking in advance. I just would like everything to be returned as it is, including the floors (they are really beautiful Brazilian hardwood veneers!) which are sturdy, but don't sustain large furniture being moved around well.
- There are plants all over the apartment (one of the perks of Mexico City!) that need to be watered regularly. We can review this, or the portero and his family are happy to come in and take care of it while you're out!
Lastly, I've spent almost 4 months a year in Mexico City for the past 4 years and am more than happy to share all of my cheat codes, favorites, and observations for making the most of your time in one of my favorite cities in the world. Please feel free to ask any questions, happy to help!
I'm looking forward to offering my Mexico City home to a person who will truly appreciate it :)
I'm an art fair director, film producer, and marketing consultant based between Mexico City, New York City, and Shelter Island, NY. I travel frequently both for work and fun, but spend my winters and a little of summer in Mexico City. I love art and design and as you'll see, this apartment is full of both. Especially mid-century pieces, which I tend to collect locally wherever I live.
I am renting this apartment from an individual landlord and have been there for four years. This is a full floor penthouse apartment so there are no adjacent neighbors, but the portero (Mexican equivalent of a super)'s family lives upstairs and we are very close. I don't know the downstairs neighbors besides passing pleasantly in the hall but have never had any issues. I will not be in the country during your stay, but the portero (super) and his family are very helpful. I also have a friend who I trust, who I pay a monthly fee to look after the apartment and whomever stays there. I will pass his information to you as well and introduce you.
Current tenant
While there are no official requirements with my building, I would like to see a 700+ credit score and proof of income.
I would also like two months' deposit plus a $1000 USD security deposit. Those two months will cover the first and last month, and you will only pay the middle month (July) during your stay.
For the shorter opening in April/May, the payment will be due in full, with the same $1000 USD security deposit, to be returned within two weeks of the end of your stay when the apartment is returned satisfactorily.
My building allows dogs (I have one) and I believe cats (I will check.) Of the two, I'd prefer well-trained dogs as my furniture is very scratch-able and difficult to replace. If you have a cat and can warrant that they won't do that, and take accountability if they do, I'd consider it and would just ask my landlord first.
