Location

Bushwick, BROOKLYN

Available

October 31, 2024

Transportation

J/M Train from Myrtle-Broadway

Hi,

I'm Mel, a remote social media manager. :)

I'm looking to sublet two rooms in my lovely Bushwick apartment, each at $1100 a month, which includes your utilities as well as your rent!

Room 1: My Primary Room (Available 11/1/2024)

-Fully furnished, however, it would only be available for November and possibly December. I'll be subletting my primary room while I head home to Maryland to take care of my mother post-surgery. The person moving into this room ideally would be looking for something very temporary, or even just a place for their storage.

You'd have your own bathroom, TV, bed (for which I'd change the mattress topper), and desk to work. This room is perfect for the person who is new to NYC and needs a temporary place to stay before they move somewhere permanently, or an out-of-town worker who needs a place to rest their head in Brooklyn.

Room 2: Room Near the Master Room (Available 11/15/2024)

-This room is NOT furnished, and it is available for a 6-12 month lease, and ongoing. They would share a bathroom with the front tenant, Rita, a lovely young woman who works at Trader Joe's in the city. This room has one window but brings in tons of light and has the biggest closet. It was my room before I moved into the master room, and it was just cozy and cute. Perfect for someone a bit quieter and who is an introvert, but loves knowing there is someone around.

A little about the building:

The building only has three units, and we're the only ones on our floor (2nd). So it's very peaceful and pretty nice to have the floor to ourselves. Our neighbors are friendly, and we all pretty much know one another or speak when we see each other.
I usually work from home so I'm not particularly eager to make much noise, but guests are welcome. We just ask that we have guests in doses just to keep the energy calm in our space :)

I’m an early riser (6 AM sometimes) since social media never stops. However, I love to play music or watch movies on the weekends if I'm home.

The apartment is great for an introverts who also loves to know there is someone around but will have guaranteed private space.

I haven't been cooking much lately, but I love those who do. It's just imperative to clean up after cooking, as a clean space is just more peaceful to live in and common courtesy. We don't have "chores", but we will just make sure we are conscious of cleaning behind ourselves. We keep the kitchen clean and take turns taking the trash out with ease.

This is a NO SHOE apartment as well as a Covid pre-caution environment. I still wipe and use disinfectants to keep the apt clean from time to time. However, we are serious about no shoes in the apartment and really want people who respect that.

We also have a backyard you can enjoy whenever you want that has a closed gate entrance, but it is shared with our neighbors.

About the rooms:

-Back Room: One window
-Master Room: 2 windows
-Deep closet space in back room, average closet space in the master
-4/20 friendly out in the backyard or out your window, NO cigarettes at all
-No pets
-No couples
-No shoes around the apartment
-Hardwood floors

More about the area:
Plenty of bodegas in the area, and within walking distance of Santa Maria Park, roaming on my own a lot, as I’m not from NYC, but I’m still very careful. I love Tulum, the bar across the street. Ask for Ray or Valentia and they'll make you the best drinks! I love LaLupe on Jefferson for street tacos. Cynthia and her sister own the spot and they are lovely. Tell them Melanie sent you if you go!

-Ornithology Jazz Bar (best date spot)
-2Chix Brunch (Black owned brunch)
-Santa Panza (best dirty martini)
-Leaf (Best caesar salad)
-La Lupe (my fave fish tacos)
-Lil Mo’s (best pho)

We’re 5 blocks from the J/M/Z train, placed between Myrtle-Broadway and Kosciuszko stops.

Misc:
Our landlord doesn’t live in the building but is very attentive.

We have a nice-sized living room and a nice couch. The kitchen is set, but the new roommates can bring their pots and pans, air fryers, etc.

The landlord has a cleaning person for our apartment lobby area once a month as well to keep the building clean.

I look forward to meeting you all. My goal is to secure people by October 30th, and meet you all starting tomorrow and this weekend! I'm also open to FaceTiming in case someone is moving from out of town (Rita and I did that and it was a match!)

Thank you,
Melanie
