We offer the whole house over 2000 square ft.. The studio is on the second floor along with the bedroom, half bath, yoga room and another large empty carpeted room. The kitchen, dining area, writing room/ office, living room and bathroom with shower complete the first floor. The house is well insulated with replacement windows and an efficient natural gas furnace, so very cosy. The upstairs east facing front porch is glassed in and though unheated could be warm enough on sunny mornings for a meditative cup of coffee.There is a deck in the back and a totally private closed back garden and garage.

Turners Falls is a walkable village on the Connecticut River 5 minutes from Greenfield MA, 30 minutes from Amherst, Northampton or Brattleboro, VT. The post office, banks, library, hardware store, grocery store, cafes, restaurants, wine bar and 2 craft breweries are within a short walk including scenic walk/ bike paths along the river and canal. Turners Falls is LBGTQ+ friendly. A car is not strictly necessary as there is bus service on the street to Greenfield with train and bus links to other towns and regions. Regretfully, the steep stairs to the second floor make the situation inappropriate for a person with mobility issues.

We are an older artist couple, new to Turners Falls as we purchased this house last summer for its abundant work space, comfortable layout and its location in such a quirky, artsy town full of amenities and close to cultural institutions and universities. As lifelong working artists, we understand the need for affordable space to work or just “retreat”.
In 2014 at age 65, we joined the Peace Corps to volunteer in Morocco where we served for three and a half years. In order to return to Morocco for 5 or 6 months we are offering our house as a studio /retreat opportunity at a low rent so it is occupied while we are away.
