There are two bedrooms suites available. I call them suites because in addition to the large bedrooms, each bedroom comes with it's own bathroom and private office/studio/closet space. I've added roughly drawn floor plans to give an idea of the layouts for each
The front bedroom is approx 12'x12.5', with an attached office that is 11'x7'. The views from these rooms look out over Brooklyn and it's a very bright and sunny room with lots of sky outside the window. On 4th of July you can see dozens of fireworks going off all over Brooklyn from this room. The attached bathroom has heated marble floors and a walk in shower.
The rear bedroom is very roughly 10'x15', I say roughly because of it's odd shape makes it tricky to measure, and the attached office is 8'x11'. The attached bath has semi heated floors, and a bathtub/shower combo. The room looks out over the backyard and gets ample sun with lots of trees and nature in the view. This is the bedroom that currently has the colorful wallpaper. The wallpaper can come down and the wall painted a neutral color if desired.
I have a queen size bed and frame available if needed for either room, and window A/C's for both rooms if needed.
The house itself is about 2500 square feet over three floors, with high ceilings, hardwood floors, big windows, a front porch to relax on and people watch. The bedrooms with their offices and bathrooms are on the top floor. The living room, dining room, den, guest bath and kitchen on the first floor, and the laundry and my art studio and sleeping space are on the walk-in bottom level. There's plenty of space to wander about the house and not bump into anyone if that's your thing. There is decent wifi throughout the house and the standard streaming services and washer/dryer.
If you're into gardening there's more than enough yard space for that, and if you like to cook the kitchen is perfect. Having the occasional dinner party makes great use of the large dining room or the patio dining area when the weather's nice. If you have any interest in adding to or changing some decor in the house we can collaborate. If you enjoy landscaping I would love that.
The house sits on a hill, so there are a higher than average number of steps to the front door.
There is a very large backyard (roughly 2000 square ft) with deck, patio, green yard space. There's a barbecue and pizza oven with plenty of outdoor furniture. Its really great out there in the nice weather.
Street parking is relatively easy here if you have a car. If you go upstate at all it's remarkably easy to get out of the city to upstate from here.
It's a 5 minute walk to the Van Siclen J train (it's one of the express stops) and a 10 minute walk to Broadway Junction with A,C,L,J trains.
The neighborhood is not very well known, but has recently started to become more popular, it's a safe multi-cultural neighborhood that borders Ridgewood, Bushwick, Bed Stuy, and East New York and has all the usual amenities.
The house is pretty much surrounded by parkland, the street dead ends at Lower Highland Park which has a dozen tennis courts, soccer fields, baseball diamonds a gym station, running trails, handball courts, etc. One block above is Upper Highland Park, which is a naturally landscaped park with old growth trees and a stone arch bridge and walking paths. It's a great place to hang out or to bring your dog to. Across from that is the Ridgewood Reservoir with it's running/biking track that circles it. It's a great park for the athletically minded.
I'm looking for someone friendly, clean and thoughtful, who takes care of the dishes after eating, who appreciates a nice home environment and will help share some of the household duties (taking out garbage, etc.). I'm also open to getting a cleaner a few times a month, but we can talk about that.
If you're an animal lover that's great. There is an indoor/outdoor cat and I will be getting a dog in the new year. This house is perfect for dog owners with the backyard space that's big enough for even large dogs to play a good game of fetch.
The home leans more towards quiet, as when I'm here I'll likely be in my studio space working on a project. As mentioned, the occasional dinner party or gathering is great but prefer someone who leans more towards chill than an active partyer. It's be nice to hang out on occasion but I do value my alone time also.
There is no smoking or vaping allowed anywhere on the property.
The rooms are being rented month to month and I'm open to either short term or long term. Ideally I'd like someone who fits in well, enjoys being here, and can stay for quite a while.
I'm a Gen X woman who tries to spend a lot of time upstate. I have a house and studio space up there and my goal is to spend more and more time up there working on projects.
I've been a small business owner the majority of my time here in the city, and these days I work mainly on a part time schedule. When I'm in the city I'm home a lot but I am trying to focus more on my creative endeavors so I spend most of my time in my ground floor studio.
I own the house.
