Your ears and how to use them! Learn to play a song you already love, or write a completely new piece. Primarily for children, but also for music-loving teens and adults, lessons based on a simplified version of my BA in music composition (Bennington '16). We'll start with ear training and gradually introduce theory and some music history, until we can understand, arrange, notate, and play a piece of your choosing, or write an original piece of your own. Piano, guitar, vocal, rhythm, bass, cello, banjo, trumpet, etc.
Central/North Brooklyn preferred, but open to other neighborhoods. Flexible appointment times, references available.
I dabbled in music in high school, but when I took my first composition class in college, I was hooked. Only when I was assigned to write my own pieces did I really get excited about delving into music as an art form. I hope to offer that creative language to beginners of all ages.
