Do you enjoy helping older people? Looking for a few flexible hours a week while you go to school, or just to supplement another job?

Hi. My name is Shane and my 80-year old mom was an accountant who specialized in helping "indies" (as she called them) beat the tax code: sculptors, therapists, reporters, adjuncts, banjo players, novelists.

She was recently diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia and my brother and I moved her to a pretty great senior living community in Paramus NJ.

Brightview is great, but mom needs companionship and a bit of caregiving:

* Take her shopping or for a walk in Van Saun Park.
* Go to a museum or see a show at the Bergen County Players.
* Talk about current events or watch a musical.
* Be there when she showers.
* Help her do her laundry.
* Or simply help her figure out her smartphone!

Mom is lovely, but she's having a hard time dealing with her memory loss. She's unsteady on her feet but won't use a walker (yes, she can be stubborn). And she's got arthritis pain.

We're flexible:
1-2 Days/Week
2-3 Hours/Day
$25/hour
Plus $0.50 per mile (NOT including your commute to Brightview Senior Living in Paramus 396 Forest Ave Paramus NJ 07652)

Must have
Some experience with elder care (personal companion, taking care of a grandparent, going to school for geriatrics, etc.)
Reliable transportation
Patience :)
