LA Wildfires: Seeking Housing

FREE

Location

Northeast Los Angeles, Los Angeles

Available

February 1, 2025 - July 31, 2025

Hi hello!

I am looking for a room or unit for the next 6 months to the end of the year ( Dec. 2025). My household is just me and a sweet old kitty cat. Discounted housing would be preferred, as I was living at a family friend's place to get settled in the Palisades that was cut short by the fires.

Amenities needed would be a kitchen, wifi, washer/dryer, and dishwasher (although not a deal breaker). I do own a minivan that will occasionally have equipment and gear for my work. So ideally looking for street parking or a shared garage/storage space, just so I can unload and keep things secure overnight. An enclosed yard or patio space for my cat would really be amazing as well.

The areas I'm most interested in are in Northeast LA (Eagle Rock, Highland Park), East-Central (Silver Lake, Echo Park), or Culver City. Any other neighborhoods close to these would be fine too. I think the space is most important.

I am open to roommates as long as they are cat friendly. My cat may be able to play well with other cats given the proper introduction and integration process.

About This Lister

I am a 37 year old male (he/him) from Eugene/Portland Oregon who had been living in the Palisades the last 6 months, I work in both photography and film/video and love talking with anyone interested in any creative fields (if you don't consider yourself a "creative," I'm sure we can find many other things to talk about!). I was music major in college. Kind and sociable and like going out but not over chatty or dependent on company. I value my alone time and independence. Clean and respectful of communal living spaces. I enjoy going to the cinema, live music, running, learning and listening, and exploring Los Angeles as this city is quite new to me.

I now have a cat who came with home I was renting. He belonged to a woman who passed away there last year. He is 16 and incredibly sweet. Does not mark, scratch, or bite, growl, or even hiss. Hobbies are sitting in the same space for long periods of time and occasionally enjoys hunting feathers on sticks if they are within reach. I have grown quite attached to this guy since taking care of him in August, and we have bonded considerably with the displacement. I would like to give him the ability to go outside in a yard or on a patio, since he used to be able to wander as much as he pleased and sniff foliage his entire life.
