I am helping my mom find somewhere to live after she lost her house in the Eaton Fire. She is a piano teacher who taught from home in Altadena.
Hoping to find an unfurnished house, back house, detached structure in the Northeast LA County area she can both live in and teach piano from. Size and amount of bedrooms does not matter, a "studio" would be fine. Washer/dryer ideal but not necessary, even just hookups would be fine. Her budget is up to about $4000 per month. Looking for a year lease ideally, but a few months would also be fine.
My mom is in her 60s, and has no mobility issues, stairs are not a problem. She is quiet and respectful. She was a homeowner for almost 30 years and knows how to care for a house.
Her piano lessons are Tuesday-Friday and run from roughly 2 pm to 7:30 pm. Just in case the sound would be a concern for neighbors. Finding something in the area surrounding Pasadena is important so she can retain her current piano students.
She has a small dog (maltese/shitzu) who barely barks and does not shed, so it would need to be pet friendly. She does not plan to get more pets!
Any leads would be much appreciated. Keep in mind, at a price close to $4000/mo, it would also need to be a place she can also teach piano from. Thank you.
I am a public school teacher in NYC. I am trying to help my mom as she rebuilds her life, even though my job keeps me on the east coast. My mom was born and raised in LA, and bought her house in Altadena about 30 years ago. She plans to stay in the Pasadena area for the next year as she continues to teach and figures out what she will do next.
