Are you seeking comprehensive developmental editing services to help you elevate your character development, narrative structure, pacing, and theme refinement?
I offer in-depth feedback that provides big-picture feedback for manuscripts in the any stage of revision. My service is ideal for authors seeking direction (with a sprinkle of validation) before diving deeper into revisions.
This service includes multiple read throughs. For the first read through, I will provide immediate emotional reaction to help you make more conscientious craft decisions. For further read throughs, I will analyze how your writing choices either contribute or hinder your artistic vision. In addition to a marked-up manuscript (with both first read through and second read-through thoughts), I will write an editor’s letter to help guide your next revision steps. And lastly, I schedule 30 minutes to 1 hour video conference after you have read my editor’s notes. Ideally four days after you have read the notes and have fully digested the comments.
Whether you are seeking traditional publishing or self-publishing, having an experienced development editor will help you reach the next level in your publishing goals.
Perfect for you NaNoWriMo manuscript!
I am both an author and filmmaker, having graduated from both Yale University with a Bachelor’s in Film Studies and Columbia University with a Master’s in Creative Writing Fiction. An enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, I grew up on the Navajo Reservation but now currently live in Brooklyn, New York.
As an undergraduate, I won a fellowship with the prestigious Sundance Ford Foundation with one of my feature length scripts. I have worked on several short films including Tsídii Nááts’íílid (Sid-dee Naw-see-lid) – Rainbow Bird and A Conversation on Race with Native Americans for the short documentary series produced by the New York Times. During the quarantine, I was a participant of the 6th Annual Native American TV Writer’s Lab with the Native American Media Alliance, where I learned to write Television Scripts.
I currently have published two middle grade novels, Healer of the Water Monster and Heroes of the Water Monster, as well as contributed short stories to Ancestor Approved and A Little Bit Super. I am currently working on a Young Adult novel with my editor at HarperCollins and am currently revising/editing an adult fiction book with my literary agent. I have also worked as a cultural consultant on several projects including Jamie Lee Curtis and Russell Goldman’s graphic novel, Mother Nature.
As a published author with extensive experience in storytelling and literary analysis, I bring a unique blend of creative insight and academic rigor to my work as a developmental editor. I am the author of The Healer of the Water Monster series, a celebrated work that combines rich cultural storytelling with compelling character arcs and imaginative world-building. My writing has not only resonated with readers but also established me as an authoritative voice in the field while also providing a solid foundation for my editing expertise.
As an adjunct professor, I have developed and taught college-level courses focused on analyzing and interpreting literature, where I guide students through the intricacies of narrative structure, theme exploration, and character development. This academic experience enables me to offer clients a deep understanding of storytelling techniques as well as being able to connect with a variety of learning styles.
Beyond academia and authorship, I have collaborated with publishers, literary agents, and fellow writers, giving me insight into the publishing process and industry standards. I am skilled in transforming ideas into polished manuscripts. My goal as a developmental editor is to empower writers, offering constructive feedback and tailored guidance that respects each author’s unique voice while strengthening their work for publication.
