About this Service

My goal as a French tutor is to help my students progress with their French studies by offering a student-centered approach through lessons tailored to my students’ needs.

In-person option available for some areas of Brooklyn, and online option (via Zoom) available worldwide. My sliding scale can go as low as $60 for 60 minutes and $45 for 45 minutes.

I can provide support for the French AP exam and for AP-level French classes, for all middle and high school French classes, I can be a French conversation partner, I can support students who are studying French just for fun, and I can help students reach many other French-language goals.

I work with all levels, students ages 8 and up (including adults).

About this Lister

I have lived in Brooklyn my whole life, except for the one and a half years I spent in France as an adolescent, and except when I lived in the Hudson Valley as an undergraduate.

I love learning new skills, especially the ones I once thought I was bad at! As an eleven-year-old starting French in school, I would not have believed you if you told me that I would be helping other people learn French one day! I got excited about French as a high schooler because I had started to get bored with English! I thought it would be cool to have another language's vocabulary at my disposal. And, of course, to connect with French-speakers from all over the globe.

What I love most about being a French tutor is seeing my students' progress and connecting with them through a shared interest in French. I love it that I am able to give my students the individual attention in French that they deserve and that they're not always able to get from larger classes.

Background and Expertise

My journey with the French language began as an adolescent when my family moved from Brooklyn, NY to Paris, France for a year and a half. My time spent in Paris strengthened my connection to the language and to francophone culture and convinced me that I could make progress with French if I tried!

I spent high school, my undergraduate years, and my time as a graduate student devoted to reaching near-native fluency in French, as well as to learning about the cultures of all the different francophone countries.

Today I am proud to say that I have reached my goal of ongoing connection on a meaningful level with native French speakers — who make up some of my closest friends — and with francophone culture.

I hold a Master's degree in French from Hunter College, CUNY and a Bachelor's degree in French Studies from Bard College. I have been tutoring French privately since 2018, and have some experience as a classroom French teacher in NYC private schools.
