I’m out of town caring for a sick relative and want to find someone I trust to stay in my home. Bonus if you’re kind, respectful and quiet since it is a peaceful building. Please get in touch if this seems like a good match for you.

Details:
Hardwood floors
One bedroom (queen, comfortable latex foam topper— latex is basically a bouncier version of memory foam if you’re not familiar with it)
One bathroom (shower/bath combo)
Fully equipped galley kitchen (gas stove, compact breville toaster oven, small microwave, rice cooker, slow cooker, induction hot plate)
Dedicated workspace/breakfast nook
Living room with large caramel leather couch, lots of art, TV with Roku and chromecast.
Gas heater (as well as portable oil heater if you prefer)
Portable AC that connects to one of the casement windows
Fans. Many fans (ceiling, floor, table)

Accessibility:
Ground floor apt
1-3 shallow steps to enter building
*It’s an old building with narrow doors so not suitable for those with mobility devices.

Nearby:
Lots of restaurants (dozens easily walkable within a few blocks)
3 blocks from the metro stop
Steps from the bus stop
One block from Starbucks as well as several (better?) local coffee shops

Notes:
—no pets
—street parking only :/
—gated building with code
—the apartment keeps a generally reasonable/stable temperature on its own given that it is ground-floor in an older, thick-walled building.
—The living room has privacy film on the lower half of the window that makes beautiful rainbows on the floor when the sun shines through.
—The bedroom is pretty small and on the darker side (which imo only makes it better for naps or irregular schedules).
—storage: two small closets with space to hang coats/clothes as well as a set of plastic drawers available in the bedroom closet and a plastic drawer in the bathroom
—kitchen storage: the kitchen itself has limited storage but there’s a set of metal shelves that extends the food-storage options.

About This Lister

I’m a longterm tenant of this apartment (15+ years!!). It’s the first place I ever lived in LA when I first moved here to work in TV and I still love it. Someone I once dated called my apartment an “art den” which I kind of took offense to at the time but I have come to embrace it. It’s totally an art den. Coziness and creativity reign supreme!

As much as I wish I were above caring about worldly goods, I love all the things in my apartment. They are meaningful mementos that have gradually accumulated like driftwood in my life. Whether it’s a vintage lamp from my grandmother or a painting by a friend. All that being said, i realize my aesthetic won’t be for everyone. I respect it.

My friend who lives nearby would be the one showing the space.

FYI I would be the point of contact for any and all concerns so I can put in a maintenance req if something breaks, etc. Note, the management company is responsive about what they perceive as emergencies but completely ignore anything that isn’t mandated by the city. Eg they just shrug and say it’s an old building when I’ve asked them to fix difficult-to-open drawers or address gaps in the vintage casement windows. So manage your expectations accordingly.

Rental requirements

-please send me a message indicating interest. Introduce yourself!
- let’s have a videochat. I prefer having a face-to-face meeting but video will do.
- references, rental history, credit check would be ideal
-an in-person viewing of the apartment can be arranged.
- if it seems like a match, a photo of your ID and payment of first and last month’s rent before move-in
-I have a short document/agreement denoting my expectations/terms of occupancy. I’d send you that after we have a video chat to make sure we’re on the same page.
- I also have a manual/guidebook for my apartment that I’d send before move-in.
