FOOD

There is a deli around the corner open till late, and a gigantic supermarket a few blocks from our place if you fancy cooking. Two really nice wine shops in the area too. There are delicious spots for food and drinks: wether you want a standard new-york slice from Marks or want fine dining at Red Hook Tavern (best burger in town, look it up!) there is everything in Red Hook (including an ikea!). Also, you cant go wrong with Hometown BBQ, Red Hook Lobster and Hoek Pizza, my personal favs. If you fancy a drink: Sunny's is a brooklyn landmark, live music is a staple at this dive bar that has been around for over a 100 years. There is a waterfront-brewery, a winery, and a whiskey bar (with strong but tasty cocktails!). Want more of an easy going spot for a late lunch or early dinner with fancy drinks? Go to fort defiance or the good fork pub! If not, San Pedro's offers better than average tacos till late and a dive bar with tasty spicy margaritas. All these places listed above are a 2-7 min walk from our place. Also, not food related, but do check out if Pioneer Works has any good artsy events taking place while you're here, def worth a visit to this warehouse exhibition/art space with a beautiful garden.

Getting Around

Transportation: Parking is easy to find in and around our block. There are two bus stops on our street. One going to Downtown Brooklyn, the other drops you to the closest train stop (smith and 9th, G Line) and further to Prospect Park. The walk to the G stop is about 15 minutes, and on the bus it's a 10-12 min drive. Well connected to Manhattan by the tunnel and the Brooklyn Bridge, it takes about 20 minutes to get the Manhattan (ie: lower east side, china town, financial district) if you call a cab. If you a fancy a city-provided ferry ride, there is a pier in the neighborhood where the ferry stops that will take you to Dumbo BK, Financial District, Williamsburg, Upper East Side (download the app: NYC ferry for routes and tickets).
