We're looking to rent the large bedroom with a private balcony on the first floor of a duplex in which we live about a block away from Union Square. Two of us live in the downstairs bedrooms and a spiral staircase leading directly to the upper floor/bedroom and roofdeck connects the two. The room is about 15' x 10.5' or ~157.5 square feet with a large closet (5' wide and fairly high and deep). The two downstairs roommates share a bathroom and the upstairs roommate has his own private one. We have a fairly spacious living room area with one of likely only a few working fireplaces (it really is incredibly lovely to have a few friends over and hang around it in the cold months or just throw a log on and be super-cozy just watching TV) in the immediate area. The lower floor also has a good-size kitchen with a dishwasher. The upstairs room leads to our section of a private roofdeck (shared with three other units, our section measuring about 3-400 square feet or so). It's essentially a great deal (check the prices for similar spaces in the area and you'll see) for a large room with many amenities. There's laundry in the basement and a garbage chute. Our train access is also among the best in the city: a minute walk to Union Square and the 4, 5, 6, N, Q, R, and L (and three minutes to the F and M and seven minutes to the 1, 2, and 3).
Downstairs roommate: I'm in my late thirties and an administrator at NYU and an adjunct literature lecturer at a CUNY college. I'm also finishing a PhD in comparative literature. In terms of schedule/how often I'm in the apartment, my current work schedule is and is likely to be for the foreseeable future: I work Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in person and remotely from home on Monday and Friday. I'm quiet and neat and like occasionally having a few friends over. I don't tend to bring the party home, but I do like to have them, say, three or four times a year. Generally very liberal/left but not super demonstrative about it.
Upstairs roommate: in my early thirties, working in tech. and DJing events around the city. I work from home 2-3 days a week and travel every three months. Enjoy socializing, hosting gatherings on my rooftop when the weather permits. I'm sociable but tend to keep the party away from home. I have a boyfriend who visits occasionally.
We drink socially and are 420-friendly. Women and queer people are welcome and we’ve both lived with them before.
We get along very well and are friends but also have our own lives.
We’re happy to have people over for viewings or do Zoom or phone calls to get to know each other. Get in touch!
