Large, fully-furnished room available in a warm artist 3BR on a treelined, quiet street in upper Harlem/lower Washington Heights. The room comes fully furnished with a queen sized bed with storage, vintage dresser, work desk, vanity, huge closet, bookcase, window AC, TV, air purifier, and induction cooktop and kettle in case you’d like to do a bit of cooking in the privacy of your own room. The room has abundant natural light and gorgeous views of the river and riverside park. It is large enough to function as a creative workspace as well. The room has blackout curtains on all windows and additional curtains to pull across the door for additional sound insulation and privacy.

The apartment has an enormous kitchen with tons of counter space and a comfy living room with sleeper sofa and TV. Tons of plants, books, and creative space. You would be living with one singer and one dancer. The dancer lives off the kitchen and is very rarely home, so the apartment feels and functions more like a 2 bedroom. The singer (me!) teaches and practices at home about 8 hours a week but otherwise is pretty quiet and runs, paints, writes, and cooks a lot (I will offload the cookies and sourdough I make onto you, be forewarned). No dogs please but cats or other small pets (birds, reptiles, etc) are okay!

The building has secure keyfob entry, onsite super, elevator, ramp entrance, bike storage, and a brand new laundry room. The neighbors are wonderful and there’s great community inside the building.

The neighborhood has everything within a 10 minute walk of the apartment: hardware stores, community bookshop and organizing third space, great coffee shop with open mic nights and music, good bars, wine stores, post office, pet supply shop. We are two blocks from a large grocery store. The m4 stops on our corner, and it’s a 5 minute walk to the A, C, and 1 trains. There is a citibike stand steps from the front door. We are 15 minutes to Columbia university and 25 minutes to midtown.

About This Lister

I am a musician and voice teacher, and this is my little artistic haven in the city! I generally work out of my own room when I’m not teaching or practicing (an hour or two in the afternoon, at the piano in the living room).

Note: if I’m teaching at home, it’s a virtual lesson on Zoom. I do not teach in person lessons at home. I post my teaching scheduled on a blackboard where it’s easily visible since it does occupy the common space (and involves noise!) so that you can let me know if it poses any conflicts to your meetings etc and we can find scheduling workarounds.

I run a lot, am a voracious writer and bookworm, and love to cook and work on sewing projects. I’m sociable but not extroverted and when I’m not away on gigs I love the apartment to be a place of inspiration and restoration.
