This is a large (approx 200 sq ft) room on the second floor of a brownstone in Park Slope, available for April 10 move-in, possibly as early as April 1 if needed. This room faces the street. There are three large windows and you get nice light throughout the day. There is a large mirror in the room as well as a beautiful fireplace (non-working), and hardwood floors. It’s spacious enough to have, in addition to a bedroom setup, a desk/table, bookshelves, a couch + coffee table + TV, a zillion plants, whatever’s your thing. This room shares a wall with the other bedroom on the second floor.

About the rest of the apartment:
This place is a gem! It’s the first two floors of the brownstone, including the front patio and private backyard with fig trees. The apartment is 3 bedrooms: the available room is upstairs on the second floor, next to another bedroom. The kitchen/living room and bathroom are downstairs, along with the other bedroom. There is an in-unit WASHER and DRYER, basement storage, bike storage, and a big kitchen. We share one bathroom. There’s one step up and two steps down to enter the apartment; the available room is up one flight of stairs. The building has not been made wheelchair-accessible.

We’re three blocks from Prospect Park, a short walk from all the stores on 5th Ave or 7th Ave. Close to the F/G and R trains, as well as the B61, B63, B67, and B69 buses. There’s a Citibike dock a one-minute walk away. 20-minute walk to Q, B, and 2/3 trains.

We’re on a relatively quiet, family-oriented block and we have a good rapport with our neighbors. The landlord is generally responsive and lives up the street.

About This Lister

We’re two queer folks in our early thirties. We love living here and are hoping to find someone who will too! One of us is a Black feminist, Brooklyn-native, writer, dj, and teaching artist (any pronouns). The other roommate works in the nonprofit world and enjoys running and crafting (she/they). We’re friendly, conscientious roommates. We keep a clean & tidy space and communicate well. Sometimes our schedules line up and we’ll end up spending the evening in the kitchen, cooking & eating together; sometimes we’ll recognize a need for space & quiet and we’ll let each other be. That attunement and consideration is important to us, and part of why we love living together. When we’re home, we often spend a lot of private time in our rooms—working on art or writing, playing music, reading/watching things, winding down, etc.

We’re both COVID-conscious, and still masking most places, so we’d love to meet someone aligned and operating with transparency!

Lister's Relationship to the Space

We are tenants with a one-year lease, renewed August each year. We've been here for multiple years.

Rental requirements

$1,350/month rent

One month security deposit equal to a month of rent. There is some flexibility around the move in date. We would prorate the rent depending on when you move in. The current lease ends on July 31, when they'll be an opportunity to renew.

If you’re interested in the room, and the vibe sounds like a good fit, please send us a note. Tell us a little about yourself, what your general schedule is like, what you’re looking for in your home space, and how you handle COVID risk.

If you’re a very light or nervous sleeper, this room may not be for you. It’s an old building, sound carries, the stairs creak, and one of us sometimes has early work hours.
