I’m looking for a roommate to move in to my 2-bed, 2-bath apartment for Jan 20/Feb 1. I’m in my 30’s & work in education. I’m quiet & clean, & I enjoy reading & cooking.
The apartment is very spacious, with a big living area & a separate dining area. There is also a huge storage closet off of the living room (you can walk around in it big). Because there are 2 baths, this full bath would be completely private. The room itself is 15/16 x 8 ft, and the closet is 4.5 ft wide. While the room is long but a little narrow, you can still fit a queen-sized bed in either direction. I’m also happy to share workspace & storage space in the communal area to free up bedroom space.
I am still refurnishing since my roommate moved out & am excited to make the apartment comfortable & cozy. In addition to replacing the coffee table & media console, I'd also like to get a new couch & comfy chairs. I'd be open to decorating together or to accommodating furniture that you might already have. I also have an extra wall shelf & AC unit that could possibly fit in the wall sleeve in the room, so I am holding onto those if they are needed or useful.
Rent is $1550 all included. The apartment is on Stuyvesant Ave near Quincy St. Nearby subway stops are J/M at Myrtle Broadway or J at Kosciuzko. There are also many busses nearby that go directly to the A/C or 3/4 lines, to Downtown Brooklyn, and to Bushwick & Ridgewood. Herbert von King park is a short walk away, and there are also many restaurants & bakeries nearby.
The apartment is on the second floor of a 3-story building, and unfortunately it is only reachable by a flight of stairs.
I have 2 cats, but I also vacuum & mop regularly to keep the apartment as free from fur as possible.
I hope to find someone that I can build a warm, welcoming home with, & I'm very open to sharing communal space, food, appliances, cleaning responsibilities, etc.
My name is Kelly (she/they). I'm in my 30's, queer, white, and a writing & literature teacher. I work from home about 3 days a week, and I am generally quiet and clean. That being said, I also love listening to music, audiobooks, or podcasts, but I am happy to stick to headphones when needed & to respect my roommate's need for quiet or space. I cook regularly, and I clean as I go. I've lived in collective houses as well as with just 1 roommate, so I'm open to finding ways of living together that work for our situation. For example, I'm happy to share bulk food items or extra dinner if that works for both of us, but I am also equally fine just respectfully sharing space if our interests or tastes aren't aligned. Above all, I value direct communication so that we can share space in a way that feels respectful and kind.
