One room at a time - item by item - Making Space offers thoughtful support in downsizing and home organization.

My approach is very personal. Working one-on-one with clients to make meaning in what they keep and help process what they feel ready to let go of. It’s been an honor to listen to their stories and help them prepare for their next chapter.

I work primarily with people going through big life transitions - newly retired, downsizing to a smaller home, adjusting to the loss of a family member, or making end-of-life preparations.

Hi, I'm Gretchen and use they/them pronouns. I've been in the Los Angeles area for 5 years and love the creative community here. I have a background in art and a dedicated practice of meditation. I am caring, organized, and deeply empathetic.

Background and Expertise

A few years ago I began my journey to become a death doula. I joined community educational groups around death, dying, and end-of-life, and began freelance care taking for seniors. I offered a number of services in the beginning - trying to meet everyone's needs and see how I could best improve their quality of life. Meanwhile I enrolled in the End-of-Life and Death Doula Training Program through Going with Grace in Los Angeles. Through this program I found clarity that one service I was already offering - downsizing and home organization - was a very unique and fulfilling way for me people to prepare for end-of-life. I then read, The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning, and confirmed that this was work I had to pursue!
