Meridian is a digital and physical space for contemporary clothing and visual culture, engaging in collaborations with artists, designers, and cultural figures. Since opening our doors in 2019, we've built our reputation as a destination for unique, creative products and experiences, connecting online and offline elements through our Hudson, New York brick & mortar shop, and nearby e-commerce studio. We carry intentionally designed clothing, objects, and printed matter from around the globe. Each piece is selected with care, and every detail of the Meridian experience—scent, space, light, touch—is considered.
We’re looking for a part-time assistant starting at 3-days per week to help with in-store workflow, basic creative production, and operational support. The ideal candidate is self-aware, detail-oriented, visually sensitive, and aligned with Meridian’s aesthetic and values. You don’t have to “get it” all at once—but you do have to want to.
This is for someone who wants to be part of something evolving and expansive. Someone who can listen well and execute quietly. You’ll work closely with the owner, but also hold independent responsibilities and spend much of your time flying solo at the shop as trust builds. There is room for this to grow into a full-time position for the right candidate.
What You'll Do:
– Retail & Shop Operations (70%)
+ Open, close, and staff the shop independently
+ Maintain store cleanliness and visual layout (light re-merchandising)
+ Greet and assist customers in a thoughtful, non-pushy way
+ Handle restocks, sizing, light steaming, product tagging
+ Pack online orders with care and intention
+ Transport orders to local USPS & UPS drop-points
+ Provide basic e-mail customer service for our e-commerce customers
– Creative & Communications Support (20%)
+ Light styling and production assistance for shop photo shoots (on model, flat lays, or outdoor shots)
+ Transcribe voice memos or notes from Samuel into short captions, product descriptions, or blurbs
+ Assist in generating and uploading product descriptions, and taking garment measurements for the Meridian webshop
+ Occasionally assist with social content, or newsletter copy
+ Organize digital assets, moodboards, and visual references
– Misc. (10%)
+ Water the garden. Light scents in the store. Keep the music and vibes on-point.
+ Occasionally assist with shop events or field days
+ Run local errands if needed (flowers, stationary, bank for change, etc)
We’d Love if You Have:
+ A deep appreciation for clothing design, visual culture, fabrics, and detail
+ A flexible, intuitive nature and strong self-direction
+ Strong written and verbal descriptive skills—or an eye for translating tone and language
+ Light retail experience or studio support is a definite plus
+ Comfort with platforms and tools like Shopify, Instagram, Mailchimp, Notion, etc, and/or a willingness to learn
Essential Details:
+ 3 days/week to start (Mostly weekdays with occasional weekend cover shift availability)
+ $22–$25/hour depending on experience
+ Non-remote, based at our shop and e-commerce/content studio in Hudson, NY
